From CNN: “Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Joe Manchin on Wednesday announced a deal on an energy and health care bill, representing a breakthrough after more than a year of negotiations that have collapsed time and again.”
Yeah, sure. Riiight. I don’t trust Manchin any further than I could throw the Capitol.
While I have no proof of this, I believe he’s pulling a fast one. It’s my opinion that he has inside knowledge that this bill won’t make it out of the Senate, or that it will die in the House. Either he’s coordinated with Sinema to have her kill the bill by withholding her support of it, or he’s got it fixed somehow with McConnell, or he knows of some procedural issue that will be used to kill the bill, or he’s coordinated with right-leaning Dems in the House who won’t support it and will therefore kill it. Or maybe another dirty trick I’ve not thought of.
I don’t think this is going to pass both Houses of Congress, and I believe Manchin knows it. I think he’s playing the entire nation for fools. I believe he’s pretending to support this, and by doing so he’s taking the political pressure off himself. But all the while he knows this won’t pass.
I truly hope I’m wrong. But I don’t think I am. We’ll see.
