Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona, who served with the Marines during the Iraq War and graduated from Harvard, sounded the alarm in a tweet that a vote for the GOP is in effect a vote for Putin and Russia.
He tweeted: “If the Republicans take over the House in 2022 US support to Ukraine will come to a halt” because they will not be able to stop Reps. Matt Gaetz and and Marjorie Taylor Greene “from dictating our Ukraine policy.”
And Gaetz, the GOP Florida man, responded “Ruben is correct.”
So there you have it. The House Freedumb Caucus is transforming into the House Putin Caucus.
And why was Gaetz reportedly seeking a pardon from Trump as the House Jan. 6 committee’s public hearings have revealed? Was it to avoid possible charges of sex trafficking a minor in Florida or engaging in a seditious conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results?
Greene is making no secret of where her sympathies lie. Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend she opined that the U.S. is a bully and responsible for killing Ukrainian civilians and that Putin’s Russia could have been an ally of the U.S.
Needless to say, this was all music to the ears of Putin’s propagandists on Russian state TV—especially when she said the U.S. should withdraw from NATO.
The group Republicans Against Trumpism succinctly summed up what’s at stake in the 2022 mid-terms: “A vote for the Republican party in November is a vote for Putin.”
And they said every Republican in Congress should be asked if they agree with Gaetz and Greene that the U.S. should abandon our ally Ukraine.
