Michael Cohen went on TikTok yesterday to put out a warning about those boxes found at Mar-A-Lago:
This is all about him. And I stand firm when I say that Donald wants to use this to hold the country hostage. . . . He knows his ass is in the grinder right now. . . . He’s going to use this to ensure that he doesn’t spend of his natural life behind bars charged with treason.
Cohen, of course, knows Trump very well, perhaps better than anyone outside his family. And it certainly fits Trump’s lifetime pattern of behavior. “You leave me alone or I give the Russians / Chinese / Saudis all these goodies.” This makes even more sense than saying he wanted it to soothe his ego or to make believe he was still president. It’s how he thinks. Although if he thinks he can pull that off against the federal government and a host of very pissed off FBI and CIA agents, he may be even more delusional than we thought.
But it gets worse. Trump may have already passed some of this on. Cohen made this TikTok because he spotted an item buried down in a WaPo story on Aug 27: Inside Trump’s war on the National Archives
Boxes of documents even came with [then-president] Trump on foreign travel, following him to hotel rooms around the world — including countries considered foreign adversaries of the United States.
“There was no rhyme or reason — it was classified documents on top of newspapers on top of papers people printed out of things they wanted him to read. The boxes were never organized,” [Stephanie] Grisham said. “He’d want to get work done on long trips so he’d just rummage through the boxes. That was our filing system.”
People may have skipped over this because they gagged on the part about Trump wanting “to get work done.” But Michael Cohen caught it and said:
Let me be very clear, considering I know this 'Mandarin Mussolini' extremely well. Donald doesn't take boxes of material around the world for no reason at all. He took it for nefarious reasons. . . . For all we know, he’s already given it away.
We’ve already had some hints of this. Shortly after Trump met Putin in June 2019 at Helsinki, Trump's White House issue[d] an ominous request for a list of top U.S. spies. Two years later, we find out that CIA Admits That Agents Are Going Missing At Alarming Rate. So if Trump was traveling around the world visiting our adversaries (a/k/a his allies, like Putin, Xi, Orban) carrying boxes of so-far unknown classification with him, it was, as Cohen says, for nefarious purposes.
Michael Cohen says Trump may have already given away top-secret information from documents he brought around the world
Michael Cohen, former President Donald Trump's personal lawyer for 12 years, believes Trump may have given away top-secret information while traveling around the world during his tenure in the White House. . . .
Stephanie Grisham, who served as White House press secretary under Trump, also told the Post that documents her former [sic] sent for would often "just disappear."
And without knowing what he had, we may never be able to accurately assess the damage he has already done.
