We can defeat Republicans on Nov. 8. How? With some massive voter registration!
In Kansas, a whopping 70% of new voter registrants after the Supreme Court overruled Roe in June were women—which is how the state unexpectedly defeated an extreme anti-abortion ban in August. And we are seeing similar trends in other states where women, young voters, and others are coming out to register and vote in unprecedented numbers. One report from TargetSmart in Georgia shows Black women are requesting mail-in ballots at a higher rate than they did in 2020.
Republicans may get what they deserve on Election Day thanks to this huge wave of new voters. But there's no guarantee this backlash will result in Democratic victories.
Tuesday, Sept. 20 is National Voter Registration Day, and our friends at NextGen America need volunteers to help register new voters.

Republicans continue to put restrictive voter suppression laws in place precisely to stop the popular backlash to their abhorrent policies. They know that when everybody votes, they lose.
Republicans have long tried to drive Democratic voters away from the polls. “I don’t want everybody to vote,” the influential conservative activist Paul Weyrich told a gathering of evangelical leaders in 1980. “As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”
That’s where you can get involved: We need volunteers to help these new voters navigate the process and make sure their voices are heard.
That’s where NextGen America comes in.
NextGen America is the nation’s largest youth voter organization, mobilizing millions of young people each year to support progressive candidates up and down the ballot. We are a multi-issue and multi-racial organization that works each election cycle to get millions of young people to the polls and win on the issues that matter to them.
We have registered over 1.4 million young people to vote [since 2013]. In the 2020 election cycle, we spoke to over 10.5 million young voters and got 4.6 million of them to the polls, leading to the largest youth voter turnout in our nation’s history.
The journey starts on Monday night with a national Zoom call to preview all the ways you can help make National Voter Registration Day a success.
On Tuesday you’ll complete a volunteer shift—whether it’s making phone calls, sending text messages, or helping NextGen execute their social media strategy.
Click to volunteer to call young voters on Tuesday. Talking directly can have the most immediate impact, and this would help fill the biggest volunteer demand.
Uncomfortable making phone calls? We get it. Click to volunteer to send text messages.

NextGen America’s mission is to empower young voters to engage in the political process and ensure our government is responsive to the largest and most diverse generation in American history. They are working in eight battleground states—Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin—to mobilize young voters.
