Welcome to what is the 1138th original profile here at “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”, where profiling Ron Watkins, the conspiracy theorist and moderator of the 8kun website widely believed to be the dips*** controlling the “Q” account that is the mastermind of the Qanon conspiracy theory, and all of the cavalcade of bulls*** that comes along with it. But wait, you might ask… since when does this blog profile random Republican conspiracy theorists and not people in or running for office? Because Ron Watkins was thinking about running for U.S. Senate for Arizona in 2022, but instead, ran for U.S. House of Representatives in Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District.
Holy f***, this guy.
First up, we’re talking about Ron Watkins’ general employment being that he’s the site administration of 8kun, formerly known as 8chan, the imageboard website that is your one-stop shop to promote conspiracy theories, white supremacism, neo-Nazism, anti-Semitism, as well as getting people gaslit enough to commit domestic terrorism, stochastic terrorism, hate crimes, and multiple mass shootings. Y’know, healthy American discourse that totally doesn’t require moderation. This absolute s***pile of a website was started by Frederick Brennan, fueled by the misogyny of Gamergate, and when Brennan was struggling to pay the bills, Ron ran and got his daddy, Jim Watkins, who has admitted to profiting from child porn web domains, to buy Brennan’s site and make the new site administrator… RON WATKINS.
8kun would then go on to further promote all the evil s*** we listed above, but added the new wrinkle of becoming the main promoter of the Qanon conspiracy theory in the build-up to the 2020 election, and several journalists have speculated on the identity of the mysterious “Q” behind the posts, who is supposedly inside the government and thinks that several Democrats are about to be exposed as having a network of dungeons with child sex slaves in them.
Who is believed to be “Q”? RON WATKINS is the most likely suspect, given that he inadvertently confessed as much in a documentary filmed about Qanon. The conspiracy theory deranged Trump supporters enough in 2020 to help inspire most of the pawns who stormed the Capitol to overthrow the government, most infamously perhaps, the gentleman referring to himself as “The Qanon Shaman”.
Post election, Watkins and his site, 8kun, began positing conspiracy theories about the election and Dominion Voting Systems to further this after Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. Yes, apparently the Trump administration was employing him and his dad as useful idiots, and for his father’s role in allowing 8kun to spread misinformation to fuel the first attack on our Capitol in almost 200 years, Jim Watkins was subpoenaed by the January 6th committee.
Somehow, the younger Watkins thought all of this is exactly a resume to serve in our government, and ran for Congress in 2022. The “highlight” of his campaign was crashing a school board meeting to complain about “Critical Race Theory” and to insist “transexual propaganda” was being presented to children by “communist creeps”. That might sound ridiculous, but that was the campaign tactic of most Republican candidates in the mid-terms, when you think about it.
A week prior to losing in the GOP Primary for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District (he finished seventh out of a possible seven candidates and with 3.8% of the vote) Ron Watkins left the United States, fleeing to Australia, where he’s planning to settle down and continue to run his little online empire of hate, paranoia, and idiocy. Whether or not he fled because he felt there were criminal charges in his future, it’s hard to say (but very likely).
All we know is that Australia is a continent filled with some of the most dangerous flora and fauna on the planet, and it would be on brand if someone like Ron Watkins would disappear into the Outback and never be heard from again. We doubt the world is that lucky.
