No complaints from the kids yet.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

The big whoop this week was school starting. My grandson is settling in nicely to fifth grade. My granddaughter is a high school junior now. No complaints so far — not that I would necessarily hear them.
My grandson was quite happy to earn a quick — well, this time not so quick — $5 for dealing with my trash and recycling.
The big event at the complex was Wednesday morning. I’m reasonably friendly with the manager, who lives in a completely separate complex and handles three different ones. I was just getting back from my Wednesday morning walk around my ¾ mile circuit and she called my name. We talked for a few minutes and then she said something about ‘getting back to it’ and walked over to our dumpsters. I didn’t see her fall, since I was unlocking my door, but I did see her get back up, saying she thought she’d broken her wrist. Her grandson attends the same school mine does, and I saw her there on Friday. She had seen a doctor, and they thought she had broken her wrist, but the confirmation would have to be done on Tuesday.
On Saturday, I got my renter’s insurance bill and paid it. I keep close track of my finances in part so I can do this every year — it works much better for me than monthly.
I also got two books that were originally supposed to arrive at the end of next week. No argument with that.
