The self proclaimed “acting leader” of the domestic terrorist organization known as “The Oath Keepers”... Kellye SoRelle has been charged with multiple felonies including conspiracy and obstruction of justice. She is also the organization’s long time general counsel.

The unsealed indictment alleges that SoRelle told others to withhold and "alter, destroy, mutilate, and conceal" items from the federal grand jury investigating the Jan. 6 riot by supporters of then President Donald Trump.

SoRelle has claimed to be the acting leader of the Oath Keepers after the far-right militia’s founder, Stewart Rhodes, was charged with seditious conspiracy for his role in the riot.
SoRelle is not charged with seditious conspiracy, which is defined as attempting "to overthrow, put down or to destroy by force the government of the United States."
Stewart Rhodes and his co-defendants weren’t initially charged with seditious conspiracy when first indicted either, so I’m not so sure she’s out of the woods yet.

According to the indictment, between December 2020 and January 2021, SoRelle attempted to "corruptly obstruct, influence, and impede" Congress from certifying the 2020 election and "did aid and abet others known and unknown to the Grand Jury to do the same." SoRelle, according to the charging documents, planned to impede the peaceful transfer of power.
She is accused of unlawfully entering the U.S. Capitol complex on Jan. 6, as well as tampering with documents when she allegedly tried to persuade people to "withhold records, documents and other objects" from the Grand Jury tasked with investigating the Jan. 6 riot.
SoRelle also sought to "alter, destroy, mutilate, and conceal objects with intent to impair the objects' integrity and availability for use in such a Grand Jury investigation," the charging documents said.
According to an individual familiar with the matter, SoRelle was present in a Washington, D.C., parking garage where Rhodes and Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio met just a day before the attack. A documentary film crew captured the meeting and the footage was featured in one of the House January 6 Committee's hearings earlier this year. Tarrio has also been charged with seditious conspiracy and pleaded not guilty.
SoRelle was indicted by the same Grand Jury empanelled 18 months ago in Washington, DC on January 8, 2021…

Kellye SoRelle, an attorney who volunteered for Lawyers for Trump during efforts to challenge the 2020 election results and says she's general counsel for the Oath Keepers, also faces obstruction of justice and obstruction of an official proceeding charges.
The 43-year-old attorney was arrested Thursday in Junction, Texas, following an indictment in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the US Attorney's Office in DC, Bill Miller, told CNN. Miller added that the Justice Department currently has no additional comments on the case.
SoRelle made her initial appearance in a federal courtroom in Austin, Texas, Thursday afternoon before Magistrate Judge Dustin Howell of the Western District of Texas.

SoRelle's next appearance will be a virtual hearing before a federal judge in the District of Columbia District Court on September 6.
SoRelle was party to an outlandish lawsuit contesting 2020 election results up and down the ballot...
Above the Law
Kellye SoRelle, a family lawyer from Texas and failed GOP candidate for the Texas House of Representatives, issued a statement that she is taking over the reins while Rhodes is indisposed:
“I am currently acting as President of Oath Keepers in lieu of Mr. Rhodes until he is released. He is not guilty of any of the outlandish charges and the organization stands with Mr. Rhodes. I would like for the political parties and politicians to stop dividing the people and using us to promote agendas for their own personal financial gain,” SoRelle said.
This isn’t the first time SoRelle has made news in connection with the 2020 election. She, along with fired associate general counsel and head of human resources at Goosehead Insurance Paul Davis, filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. The suit claimed it was “not a 2020 presidential election fraud lawsuit,” and alleged changes to election laws in advance of the 2020 election were in violation of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) which resulted in civil rights violations. And it asked a federal judge to declare all actions of the new Congress — including certification of Joe Biden’s win and the second impeachment of Donald Trump — invalid.
Then the case teetered into Lord of the Rings territory. Oh, you’re not sure why a work of fiction would have a prominent place in a federal lawsuit? Well, that’s why this is so good. They filed an amended TRO motion using the completely fictional experiences of Gondor as precedent. While they case was ultimately dismissed, there was apparently a split amongst the plaintiffs regarding what strategy to pursue (though, tbh, none of them were winners).
