In case you missed it, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has published a line of children’s books. His latest indoctrination guide is titled The Kids Guide to Ron DeSantis. It’s an homage to Florida’s most fascist governor, denying both his racist, xenophobic culture wars and his science-denying policies—and it can be yours for just $1 (plus shipping and handling).
“Help your kids learn about Ron DeSantis and why he may be our next Commander-in-Chief!” the ad copy reads.
Huckabee’s new DeSantis guide covers the highlights of the governor’s life as a “model student” at Yale, as a “sports star,” and a photo of DeSantis in his Navy dress whites with the copy, “He Served His Country.” The ads show photos of DeSantis with his family and, of course, the governor speaking.

The guides are published by EverBright Media, a company co-founded by the fraudster himself. Huckabee and investor Bradley Saft have been peddling the guides as “education” for more than a decade, The Daily Beast reports. Offering up lessons in pure Pravda fashion—“fighting socialism,” “cancel culture and free speech,” and “media bias and fake news,” to name a few.
There is also a book about former President Donald Trump, heading into the 2020 election with an effusive description of Trump’s “greatest achievements,” and one about President Joe Biden that (unsurprisingly) reads like weak tea, according to The Daily Beast.
DeSantis has not officially announced a run for office, but leave it to Huckabee and his daughter, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who recently named Florida’s notoriously anti-LGBTQ Jacob Oliva as her nominee to head the Department of Education, to begin an early love affair with the man who may be king.
“The Arkansas Department of Education is pleased to announce that the State Board of Education has selected Jacob Oliva as commissioner of ADE’s Division of Elementary and Secondary Education,” the Arkansas Department of Education tweeted on Jan. 12.
Oliva is best known for his role championing Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
Huckabee Sanders previously worked as White House press secretary under Trump and has a long history of opposition to LGBTQ equality. At the height of the AIDS public health crisis, she declared “we should isolate the carriers” of HIV and that the HIV/AIDS research had “an unfair share of federal dollars.”
The Los Angeles Blade reports Huckabee Sanders supports “conversion therapy” and has opposed adoption by same-sex couples, explaining that “children aren’t puppies.”
As for Mike Huckabee’s guide as a hint to who he will endorse in 2024, a spokesperson for the former governor told The Daily Beast that the book is “by no means an endorsement of Governor DeSantis from the company or Governor Huckabee or anybody else.”
Election season is already here, and it's already off to an amazing start with Democrats' huge flip of a critical seat in the Virginia state Senate, which kicks off this week's episode of The Downballot. Co-hosts David Nir and David Beard dissect what Aaron Rouse's victory means for November (abortion is still issue #1!) when every seat in the legislature will be on the ballot. They also discuss big goings-on in two U.S. Senate races: California, where Rep. Katie Porter just became the first Democrat to kick off a bid despite Sen. Dianne Feinstein's lack of a decision about her own future, and Michigan, which just saw veteran Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow announce her retirement.
