“We’re pleading” “Is there anything we can say” “Look, I’m begging” “We’re on our knees”
I give a lot of money to political causes, and I resent every dime. I shouldn’t have to pay money to have my voice heard. My vote should be enough. But I know that our system is rigged and rewards the wealthy with power. So I give ‘til it hurts.
But then I am bombarded with desperate pleas, by email, text and phone. People I’ve never heard of, not even bothering to say which state they’re from. Any more I immediately respond to political texts with STOP, only allowing my local candidates to get through. But the avalanche of demands continues. I am sick this, and I believe that it ultimately will backfire and turn off many potential donors.
To all fundraisers: turn down the volume, stop the screeching, target your audience more carefully, reduce the noise.
