Welcome to what is the 1256th original profile here at “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”, where we’ll be profiling Nick Freitas, who has served as the delegate from District 30 of the Virginia House of Delegates since first being elected in 2015, and has never faced a primary challenger for that seat. However, when he is challenged in elections, like say when he wanted to unseat Senator Tim Kaine in 2018, or when he wanted to flip Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger’s seat in 2020, he loses. There’s a pretty good reason for that. Nick Freitas is one of the hardest right members of the Virginia GOP, supporting the construction of Donald Trump’s nativist, useless boondoggle that is the physical border wall along the U.S./Mexico border, wants to replace a national income tax with a national sales tax (that would cripple the American economy) and once referred to the Affordable Care Act as “cancer”. He’s against raising the minimum wage, but we’re still not getting to his lowest point.
That would be, quite easily, that during his 2020 campaign for Congress, during a voter forum that Freitas state that in his understanding, that rape victims, due to the stress of being raped, are less likely to get pregnant from their assault. That is, of course, factually untrue, based on flawed research from some of the worst Nazi anatomists as part of their war crimes, but also is the same sort of idiocy that once obliterated the career of Missouri Congressman Todd Akin.
Nick Freitas was just re-elected in the 2023 elections to another term in the Virginia House of Delegates with 62% of the vote. Democrats luckily maintained control of the Virginia state legislature, so this moron won’t be able to take his terrible opinions on rape to the capitol to vote on an abortion ban that Gov. Glenn Youngkin would have been able to sign. An even better result would have been if the trash got taken out further and his seat got flipped, but at least the tide was held off… for now.
