The Washington State History Museum features the largest model railroad on permanent exhibition in the state. The theme is Washington in the 1950s.
According to the Museum:
“You’ll spot landmarks such as Tacoma’s historic Union Station (the star of the layout), the towering Asarco stack, the tunnel to Stampede Pass, the Almond Roca candy factory, and Puyallup’s Meeker Mansion, to name a few. You’ll see trackage and equipment from the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Union Pacific, and Milwaukee Road railroads.”
A model train exhibit is, of course, about more than trains. With an emphasis on the 1950s, the exhibit also includes historic buildings, boats, and vehicles.
