Federal appeals court finds Trump not entitled to presidential immunity in Jan. 6 civil cases
A federal appeals court on Friday rejected former President Donald Trump's bid to dismiss civil claims seeking to hold him to account for the Jan. 6 riot, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol, denying his claims of presidential immunity.
** Summary of the 7 main legal cases facing Donald J Trump: 4 are criminal cases and 3 are civil cases.
In chronological order, here’s a re-cap of the 6 main cases facing Donald J Trump. 4 of them are criminal cases, while 2 are civil cases. Keep in mind, there could be more coming.
** 1) Leticia James civil lawsuit against Donald Trump, Trump Associates, and his three oldest children (Still in progress)
This is the lawsuit alleging that the accused parties fraudulently manipulated property values for illegal purposes, such as tax evasion or more favorable loan/mortgage rates.
It’s still on, still shooting sparks & barbs, and almost certainly a loser for TDFG!!
** 2) E Jean Carroll case.
Expected trial date: Jan. 15, 2024, in New York
This is the case in which Trump sexually assaulted the author, Jean Carroll, lied about it, and was already found guilty. Damage claims are now the only issue remaining.
** 3) Trump was deposed in a fraud suit that involved a failed 'videophone' from 2008,
which lawyers alleged was 'doomed almost from the outset:' report.
Expected trial date Jan 29th, 2024 (Newly scheduled- prev. under my radar!)
- Donald Trump, his company, and his three oldest children are being sued in a class action lawsuit.
- The suit claims that Trump defrauded investors into backing ACN, an MLM telecommunications company.
- The company's flagship product was a "videophone" that was made obsolete with smartphones.
- Note: This is a relatively minor case0 in comparison to the other 6.
** 4) The January 6TH case, also known as the Insurrection Case
Expected trial date: March 4, 2024, in Washington, D.C.
A 45-page indictment lays out the case that Trump and those around him committed crimes as the former president scrambled to try to hold onto power after losing the 2020 election.
It comes after the Justice Department's investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, one of the most sprawling and complex investigations in U.S. history.
Note: Yeah, this looks like a biggie, too!
** 5) The stormy Daniels Hush Money criminal case
Scheduled for March 25, 2024 in NY, NY
This is the case in which Trump paid Daniels for sex (what a shock!), lied about it, had a buddy bury the story, and the charges are all about the falsification of business records. Those actions resulted in 34 criminal counts. Oopsie!
** 6) Mar-A-Lago Classified Documents case
Scheduled for May 20, 2024 in Florida. The judge is the infamous pro-Trumper Eileen Cannon.
In this case, indelibly etched on my brain and so many others, is the removal and illegal retention of Classified Documents from the National Archives. Many (most?) were recovered from unconventional storage (Closets, a bathroom, etc.) at Mar-a-Lago. Trumps directions to move the records multiple times, attempts to flood them, etc., are legendary. This case is a biggie!!!
** 7) Georgia 2020 Election Interference case
Expected trial date: Prosecutors in Georgia have proposed a start date of Aug. 5, 2024,
Number of charges: 13 (Criminal case)
Late Monday Aug. 14, a grand jury impaneled by District Attorney Fani Willis returned an indictment on Trump and 18 of his allies for attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state of Georgia. By using undue Presidential political influence, and a slate of illegal electors, Trump and his allies sought to reverse the US Presidential election.
This is yet another Biggie for the BLOAT (Biggest Loser of All Time).
Remember the phrase “Just find me, uh, votes!!! (Exact quote below from Google)
I just want to find, uh, 11,780 votes, which is one more than [the 11,779-vote margin of defeat] we have, because we won the state." During the call, Trump falsely suggested that Raffensperger could have committed a criminal offense by refusing to overturn the state's election results.
** Note: there’s a quote that will live in infamy. The timing of the case is not yet certain, but this proceeding, this close to the election, will make it electrifying!
** I don’t know what the political outcome will be for the former president, the BLOAT. I think it’s extremely likely he’ll be found guilty on a majority of those 91 indictments. The biggest question is what the impact will be on voters. Maybe I’m still too naive, but I think that a solid and growing slice of Republicans & conservative Inds. will either vote against Trump (presuming he’s their nominee, and still alive & “well”) or sit out the election.

** Speaking of the Jan 6th insurrection, and the idea that people who like to F*** Around with the Constitution and laws and Find Out= (FAFO),

** Youth and the 2024 Election: Likely to Vote and Ready to Drive Action on Key Political Issues
November 29, 2023
CIRCLE's early poll of youth (ages 18-34) ahead of the 2024 presidential election highlights major trends in young people's political views and participation.
Authors: Peter de Guzman, Alberto Medina
57% Extremely Likely to Vote
57% of youth, ages 18-34, say they’re “extremely likely” to vote in 2024, and another 15% say they’re “fairly likely” to cast a ballot in the election.
+21 for Democratic Candidate
Among youth who are extremely likely to vote: 51% back the Democratic candidate, 30% the Republican, 16% undecided.
** Note: Though this poll did not mention abortion rights as a top concern of this voter demographic, voters in 7 states demonstrated that it is a high priority issue for many women (and men).
** From the Voters of Tomorrow website:
We are led by young activists, strategists, and policy wonks. We know best how to turn out our own generation best at the ballot box.
** Keep in mind that from the date of the election of DJ Trump in 2016 to the Nov ‘24 elections is a spread (remarkable, but here we are!) of 8 (Eight) years. In that time, roughly 32 million potential voters have graduated from HS (4 mil. yearly). During that same time frame, about 20 million people, mostly seniors, have passed away. That represents an enormous demographic shift, and within that shift is a big move to more racial, ethnic, and religious diversity.
I have great hopes that this is exceptionally good news for the 2024 election results!!

Donate to Leaders We Deserve
**David Hogg, one of the heroes of the Parkland shooting, started this political action fund. Here’s how he describes their mission:
Young Progressive candidates face systemic barriers. At every level of government, the average politician is older than the average American. Our political system is stacked against young people – in favor of those who are older, wealthier and white. In 2020, Millennial and Gen-Z individuals only held 21% of State Legislative seats despite representing 45% of the electorate.
Leaders We Deserve is a grassroots organization dedicated to electing young progressives to Congress and State Legislatures across the country to help defeat the far-right agenda and advance a progressive vision for the future. Our mission is to identify and elect more trailblazers – youthful, audacious, and charismatic leaders who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. We pledge to stand with them, equipping their campaigns with the tools to succeed: from fundraising and messaging to scheduling and budgeting. We’ll raise the banner of their cause, rallying funds online and in person.

** America’s first ‘enhanced’ geothermal plant just got up and running
A next-generation geothermal plant backed by Google has started sending carbon-free electricity to the grid in Nevada, where the tech company operates some of its massive data centers.
On Tuesday, Google and geothermal developer Fervo Energy said that electrons began flowing from the first-of-a-kind facility earlier this month. The 3.5-megawatt project, called Project Red, is now supplying power directly to the Las Vegas–based utility NV Energy.

** Note: jessiestaff and others have also posted this news, but I had to as well. It is a really big sign of the progress being made, and Quaise Energy, AltaRock Energy, and the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory are working diligently to tap this vast source of power deep underground (5-10 miles deep). It’s a technological challenge still several years away! More in a future post.
