Because Ron DeSantis is such a supporter of colleges, he has asked for budget money to pay for Florida State University to sue the NCAA over their exclusion from the College Football Playoff (especially since University of Texas made it in). ESPN is reporting here that:
DeSantis, speaking at a news conference to detail his proposed $114.4 billion budget for Florida, said he is asking for $1 million to let Florida State sue the CFP committee even though the championship will be decided months before a budget is approved. The semifinals are set for Jan. 1, with the championship game to be played Jan. 8.
"My first-grader, my fifth-grader and my preschooler ... they are all Noles and they are big-time fans and they do the tomahawk chop and they were not happy," DeSantis said. "We are going to set aside $1 million and let the chips fall where they may."
Yup, he has taught all his children the school rallying symbol — something that is offensive to almost any Native American — because that’s the way he rolls. In standard DeSantis fashion, he is making a big production out of a miniscule item (0.00087% of the total budget) that may not pass that would not be adequate to fund what he is crowing about. Sort of like anything else about DeSantis.
Whatever.
Anything to try and get a little publicity for the campaign that has taken on some much water it reminds me of the opening scene to “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Nice try but those boots won’t inspire much admiration at the tailgate.
