This is going to be a very brief diary. Ethan was the gunman in Michigan that killed four class mates. He is a pretty screwed up kid (15 at the time of the shooting, so about 17 or 18 now). I blame his parents (James and Jennifer Crumbley) as much or more than I blame him, as they provided him access to the firearms and encouraged him with them while neglecting nearly every other part of his life. They appear to have been preparing to escape to Canada when they were apprehended.
Ethan was sentenced to life in prison (Reuters link) yesterday. I looked up the parents at the same time. A district court ruled that they could stand trial for involuntary manslaughter (ABC News link), but it’s on appeal to the Michigan supreme court with no trial date set.
Anyway, sometimes these stories never get many eyeballs upon resolution and I thought someone might be interested.
