A “Day After” update: I am just getting online today. I finally crawled off to bed this morning at seven, then was back up at noon (I’d promised a friend I’d go to the Irish fest for a few hours — free music! One of my favorite things :-). I’m still in this weird floaty sort of place today — it feels so strange not to have that omnipresent panic knot in the pit of my stomach. It’s been there so long, it actually started feeling like “normal”… It’s like I almost don’t remember who I am without it.
I just wanted to say thank you again — and thanks for pushing this up the rec list where I know everyone who graciously donated will hopefully see it! You guys are the best :-) Bless you.
And one more update — somebody gave me a DK gift subscription!!!!
FINAL UPDATE!! In the comments, sockpuppet mentioned another family who is struggling desperately to hold onto their small cabin in Colorado. I am now fine, guys, really! I and my kitties should need for nothing between now and July, thanks to your generosity. So don’t worry about me — if you still have a bit you can afford to kick in, please check out Coloradowoodsman’s diary here!

(original diary)
OMG guys. I don’t know where to begin. Four hours ago, I was two weeks away from an eviction notice. I was panicking because I had no idea how I was going to survive till my disability finally gets processed. I’d already sold my jewelry (not that I had much), my guitars, my lovely cushy Odyssey. I was frantic enough to finally ask for help. And you guys came through like a thunderstorm in spring.
In four hours, you guys met my most hopeful goal, which was enough money to keep the rent paid and the kitties fed until disability kicks in. You not only met it, you exceeded it by about a thousand dollars, and then one amazing Kossack came along and essentially matched the entire fundraiser.
So if my car breaks down. If one of my kitties needs an emergency vet trip. If SSA takes weeks and weeks longer than they say it’s going to be… You guys covered it. In four hours.
“Amazing” doesn’t begin to describe it. I am absolutely, utterly blown away.
I’ve asked the incredible Vetwife to leave up her original diary long enough for me to get through all the comments, but with the donation links removed. ) I will also be messaging/emailing everyone who donated — there were a LOT of you, it might take me a little while!
I also want to send a special thankyou to Aashirs nani who jumped in on a moment’s notice to help host the fundraiser diary and respond to comments, which I really, really appreciated — she’s ten times faster than I am at posting!
I just made it all the way thru the comments in the fundraiser diary, and all your warm thoughts and good wishes (and some really good suggestions!) mean the world to me. Words don’t begin to suffice, but words are what we’ve got — so my words for you tonight are simply,
THANK YOU.
