I am a licensed psychologist, retired university professor and author of 80 books on various topics in psychology and I found out recently that I am too “woke.” I have been publishing mostly self-help books on Amazon’s KDP since 2008. I never had any complaints and have good reviews of my books. Apparently, I got targeted by an anti-woke group who complained to Amazon that i was “too woke” and they took down all of my books that I had published with them and forbade me from ever publishing with them again. This is the cancel culture at its worse. Likely someone from this right wing group read one on my books and exclaimed, “This guy is trying to wake up all of humanity. We have to stop him.”
The reason that Amazon gave me was this:
“...we found that you have published titles with misleading content that have the potential to mislead or defraud our customers.” Boy, is that vague. They did cite one of my books, “How To Break Free of The Drama Triangle and Victim Consciousness,” without telling me what they were objecting to in that book. My educated guess is that someone objected to the following passage in this book about Christianity and Victim Consciousness: "If you believe in Original Sin, you’ve given someone else the power to define and measure your worth. You are dependent on the hoops they want you to jump through to be saved from eternal damnation and to be granted everlasting life. This trap is very difficult to escape from and supports a lifetime of Victim Consciousness and dependency on the church for your well-being.”
I tried for a week to get more information out of Amazon about why they took such a drastic action, but got nothing. I believe I am “a canary in the coal mine" about a dangerous and growing problem in this country. If this can happen to a a writer of self-help books, it can happen to any writer.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbot has a list of 850 books he wants banned from school libraries in Texas schools.
bookriot.com/... Gov. Ron DeSantis in Florida has an “anti-woke” campaign to ban certain books and curricula from Florida Public Schools. A new poll suggests Ron DeSantis’ 'anti-woke' crusade may backfire.

This reminds me of what was happening in Nazi Germany in 1933 to 1945.

I regard this extreme action as an attempt to silence critics who write about the way most Christian churches operate. I believe Nietzsche wrote much the same thing that I did many years ago. It is a big part of the battle to eliminate the separation of church and state and create a “christian nation.” Amazon is caving in to these extremist groups. I do not believe book banning should be part of our democracy. It is fascist behavior.
