In WAYR?, I note what I’m reading and comment...you note what you are reading and comment. Occasionally, I may add a section or a link related to books…a little tired right now but I did begin a couple of new books this week.
I am finished reading:
Found in the Street by Patricia Highsmith- I liked Found in the Street because it’s bit of an unconventional narrative. As it turns out, there’s a mystery and a murder but it all seems secondary to the main story and character development. Recommended but this is not a Ripley novel, although there are some good psychological insights here.
I am reading:
Imago by Octavia Butler-
Valis by Philip K. Dick- Read this article and decided to begin with this novel, a thinly veiled fictionalized version of Exegesis which...I used to own this book years ago and didn’t know what I had...now I know.
Come Back in September: A Literary Education on West Sixty-Seventh Street, Manhattan by Darryl Pinckney- An account of the New York Review of Books reviewer and his mentorship and relationship with famed NYRB critic Elizabeth Hardwick. I like the material thus far, even though there’s a bit too much name-dropping.
