I started to write about the Republican crazy again, but sometimes it’s just gets too crazy and too depressing. The Supreme Court is no longer legitimate. But is a machine working in direct opposition of the will of the people. The law is pliable while justice is iron. The law is whatever someone in power says it is. Weakening the EPA is law and not justice. The EPA was invented for a reason; to preserve the environment for all the citizens of the United States including the unborn.
So, the court in effect ruled against the citizens of the United States yet again. Just as it ruled against women’s rights and children’s rights. Take it down or take it over. Pack it or smash it. One known Justice is bought and paid for and is feeding on the court. Where there is one there is what? Do you suppose Clarence is all alone here? Brett Kavanaugh had his debts paid off. What else? This super legislative body (nobody elected them.) And yet, they rule over us just beyond our reach.
A council of little dictators and the billionaire’s best friends. Once Donald Trump is convicted in the documents case, he will immediately appeal. An on appeal it will move up the anus of the justice colon until it reaches the tribunal of the bought and paid for. The council of the little emperors.
Any person of any character with just a modicum of shame, would have resigned from the court by now. Instead, Clarence raises his flag of defiance in his middle finger. Catch me if you can mother fuckers. Ain’t gonna happen, so piss off.
The Supreme Court sets the laws of the land, and what they say goes. So why isn’t the Court telling Clarence to get going? That Clarence is pissing in the court’s pool and is delegitimizing and undermining the court. That they as a group should repudiate Clarence publicly. Issuing an order of censure and suspending his vote. Then Clarence would have no purpose and no choice but to resign.
Are the Justices so inoculated and insulated from the whole human race that they can’t, see? Like a French King drinking from a golden goblet and eating tea cakes in Versailles. “Let them eat shit!” If Clarence stays it is because the court allows him to stay. And if the full court moves to protect Clarence Thomas so they too become a full accomplice in his crimes. If you ain’t making him go, you’re helping him stay. If you’re helping him to stay, we should investigate why.
Richard Nixon resigned because he knew that he would lose. He would be stripped naked of all dignity and dragged through a Senate trail that would remove him from office and punish him in history. Nixon knew and understood it would be better for everyone if he just stepped away quietly. It wasn’t just for Nixon; it protected the Republican Party who had fought so hard to protect Nixon.
But buying a personal Supreme Court Justice is just so expensive. You don’t just amble in to “Judges are Us.” And pick one out. They begin preening law students and then you must support the Party candidates that could get your candidate advanced. They, in turn, rule the right-thinking corporate way and begin speechifying about how they’d like to turn this country back to the Stone age, like it was when Jesus tamed the dinosaurs.
Reich wing support groups like the Federalist Society shelter them with their wing and create a short list of candidates for Presidents to choose from. So, it’s not one check, it’s hundreds of checks for uncounted millions to make sure that you have friends on the court. May I never be so wealthy I must worry about the court ruling against me.
That I must plot and connive to advance my interests in a court. So, my legacy becomes “The best friend a profit ever had.” And if families lose parents to defective cars or toxic workplaces. Or discriminated against that’s fine. That’s okay. For me, I’d rather be nobody than to be somebody awful.
Donald Trump was impeached twice and tried to overthrow the government once. And the Republicans defend Trump still. It says to the electorate; we don’t care what he does. Whatever he does, he does in our name. The Republicans voted twice to defend Trump from impeachment and are unrepentant for their sedition.
Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton was finally impeached for crimes committed years ago. He faces trial in the state Senate at some later unnamed date. Gee, what a coincidence. Someone set fire to a dumpster after Paxton’s office was told to hold on to documents. Catch me if you can mother fuckers.
A Republican city councilman Mathew Reilly of Rhode Island was found passed out in his car with his crack pipe still in his hand. He blames a bad divorce for falling hard off the wagon. But did his divorce involve this crack pipe? Bringing it to work? Still trying to defend himself from charges he had passed out in his new Mercedes with crack pipe in hand! The police take people to jail everyday for stuff like that.
DUI anyone? Reilly was arrested for possession of Cocaine. But no mention of DUI, despite Reilly being in his car with a seat belt across his chest. Clearly, Reilly either drove there under the influence or planned on driving away under the influence.
But, if a Supreme Court Justice can sit on the court smelling of shit. Why can’t a city councilman smoke crack in his car? Death Sentence Ron DeSantis says he’d consider pardoning the January 6th Seditionists. Because DeSantis can only imitate Trump. And fuck the court system! Justice is whatever we say it is.
Ken Paxton calls his impeachment denying Texas citizens of their choice in the election. But from top to bottom it shows Republican contempt for our system of government. You have a right to disagree on the issues, but you don’t have a right to disagree on our form of government. This is Memorial Day weekend, and we honor the millions who died to defend this form of government.
Yet from all corners, Republicans move to defile it and to cheapen it. So, they can overthrow it. The vote in 2024 will be monumental and will decide once and for all the fate of this nation. Either Democracy or Fascism. A billionaire’s paradise of indentured servants or the will of the people. Either we find our way or admit we are lost in the new Dark Age.
“THERE were two “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.” – Mark Twain
