The caller implied that a man should have agency over a woman’s body if he is the one who impregnated her. We made it clear he was wrong.
A woman must have full control of her body.

The discussion began with Brian highlighting the role men play in conception and expressing concerns about men having no say in abortion decisions. Here is a reality men would do well to understand. Although men play a role in conception, they don’t carry the child, so their primary influence lies in supporting and treating the woman well during the pregnancy.
Brian shared a deeply personal story of witnessing a premature baby in an incubator, which was about the size of a Barbie doll. He brought up the topic of partial-birth abortion, pointing to its traumatic nature and the emotional toll it takes on those involved.
Abortion isn’t a black-and-white issue. Society should be structured to support pregnant women so that abortion becomes a less pressing issue. Instead of the punitive nature in the Red States, where they try to forbid women’s rights or imprison those who help women, these politicians should find solutions. It is important to examine the root causes of problems and address those rather than just the symptoms.
The conversation veered into discussing topics like the approach to immigration and poverty superficially. The right wing has programmed its followers to veer into other subjects when they are stumped by those who logically prove their failure to prove their point. They continue advocating for “band-aid” solutions instead of delving into the core issues. The point was made that addressing root causes can lead to more comprehensive solutions.
The conversation concluded with the importance of infrastructure, like health insurance, which can play a pivotal role in supporting women during pregnancy. When discussing these issues, one must be unbending in humanely protecting all but giving the misled a place to land. Respect goes a long way.
