I almost laughed out loud when I read this from The Louisville Courier-Journal:
Cameron flip-flops on rape and incest exceptions to Kentucky abortion ban
For those not in the know, Kentucky is having a governor’s race this year (I really hate this off year election shit, but never mind), and the Republican State Attorney General Daniel Cameron is running against Democratic incumbent Andy Beshear. And Beshear has a brutal TV advertisement up about Cameron’s support of Kentucky’s current abortion law (abortion only to save the life of the mother).
Now, Cameron has been screaming bloody hell about this ad.
The Cameron campaign responded with a statement calling the ad a "desperate attack," saying Beshear "stands with Joe Biden and the most extreme wing of the Democrat Party on abortion."
"Daniel Cameron is the pro-life candidate in this race and will work as Governor to build a culture of life.”
Nearly all abortions have been banned in Kentucky since August 2022, shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.
Kentucky's "trigger law" automatically banned abortions after that court decision, while another bans abortion six weeks into pregnancy, before many women realize they are pregnant. The only exception under the bans is to save the life or prevent disabling injury of a pregnant woman, with neither containing exemptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest.
Attorney General Cameron has strongly defended the law as written in the courts, as well as in his competitive Republican primary for the office, where he received the endorsement of major right-to-life groups.
Cameron called the statements in the ad "shameful" on Monday.
"If someone rapes a child, we are going to go after them with the full force of the law and that should never happen," he said, also adding that Beshear was running a "smear campaign."
Prior to Monday, Cameron said multiple times that he supports the current law, which does not provide exceptions for rape or incest.
The above was from September 1st of 2023. And I have news for Cameron. Rape of nine year old girls DOES HAPPEN! He just needs to look at what happened in OHIO! And notice, the girl still will have to bear the rapists child.
Now, someone must have seen some disturbing polling data:
Kentucky Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Daniel Cameron said Monday that he would sign legislation to provide abortion-ban exceptions for rape and incest, flip-flopping from his previous stance on Kentucky's near-total ban.
"If our legislature was to bring legislation before me that provided exceptions for rape and incest, I would sign that legislation," Cameron said Monday on the "Tony & Dwight" show on NewsRadio 840 WHAS. "There's no question about that."
The move comes weeks after a campaign ad aired by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear's campaign knocking Cameron's abortion stance.
From “No you cannot have an abortion, unless the woman has one foot in the grave” to “If the GOP bring up a bill for rape and incest exception, yeah, sure. Whatever.” Notice how Cameron left himself a big loophole. IF the GOP brings rape and incest exceptions. This is the same group of assholes who passed that damn trigger law.
Beshear has been aggressive about being pro-choice. He ran on the issue of abortion in 2019, and Beshear defeated incumbent asshole Matt Bevin who was all for banning abortion. Now that there the SCOTUS took away a woman’s right for reproductive freedom, Kentuckians are not lock step when it comes to banning abortions. In fact, they rejected a constitutional amendment to ban abortions last year in referendum vote.
It’s amazing what reality will do to focus the mind of some voters in Kentucky.
