On the 51st anniversary of Roe versus Wade (Mo. Jan. 22), VP Harris began her Fighting for Reproductive Freedoms Tour, with her first stop, in Big Bend, Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
She entered the stage to roars from the crowd:
Freedom, I believe, is fundamental to the promise of America — freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of assembly, the freedom to vote. In America, freedom is not to be given. It is not to be bestowed. It is ours by right — (applause) — by right.
And that includes the freedom to make decisions about one’s own body — (applause) — not the government telling you what to do.
We trust women. (Applause.) We trust women to make decisions about their own bodies. We trust women to know what is in their own best interest. And women trust us to fight for their fundamental freedoms. (Applause.)
Nioshii @Nartist noted that: Her walk off music is Beyonce’s Freedom from Lemonade. I literally gasped and was on my feet singing! Also, as I’d hoped, she closed with what I believe will become the Yes We Can of this campaign:
VP: And when we fight …
And the crowd chimed in with her: WE WIN!!
MVP Harris is finally getting some MSM attention. This was a great interview by Laura Coates of CNN:
Not from the MSM anymore, Katie Couric, conducted an interview with VP Harris about the purpose of the tour and the focus of the Biden-Harris re-election campaign. Give it a look. It’s a thoughtful interview.
MVP Kamala Harris concludes saying the impact of the election will be profound and, in many ways, existential.
And thanks, and congratulations to Gay CA Democrat for his well-received Daily Kos story about VP Kamala Harris’ tour: The Supreme Court handed VP Harris a golden opportunity. And she is running with it.
Tuesday, Jan. 23, President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and Vice President Kamala Harris held a Reproductive Rights Event in Manassas, Virginia.
VP Kamala Harris: Note while these extremists say they have been motivated by the health and well-being of the women and children of America, in reality, they ignore the crisis of maternal mortality (applause). The top 10 States in our Country with the highest rates of maternal mortality all have abortion bans. The hypocrisy. So, this in fact is a health-care crisis. And there’s nothing about this moment that is hypothetical. Here's VP Harris' speech from the rally.
