Trump was given Obama's economy that had created jobs for 75 consecutive months and turned it into an economy that lost ten million jobs in 2020. He added $8 Trillion to the national debt and doubled the deficit from $600 Billion to $1.2 Trillion.
Because Donald Trump minimized COVID and didn't promote the safety measures recommended by the CDC like social distancing wearing a mask or getting vaccinated, then only 60% of Republicans were vaccinated by December of 2021 ( by which time the vaccines had been available for almost a year) while 91% of Democrats had been vaccinated by then because President Biden and Vice President Harris told the American people the truth that COVID was a serious threat to their lives and they did promote the safety measures recommended by the CDC including wearing a good mask properly and getting vaccinated. If you were vaccinated and then caught COVID you were 53 times less likely to die from COVID than if you caught COVID but had not been vaccinated.
Donald Trump didn't even try to limit the harm done by COVID whereas President Biden and Vice President Harris did everything they could to limit the harm done by COVID. Thus, our terrible COVID results are on Donald Trump who made the pandemic and the consequences of COVID including economic consequences were made much much worse than they had to be. If we had the same percentage of COVID deaths as other similarly situated nations in the G7 then we would have lost 400,000 fewer people to COVID. That's on Donald Trump. We make up four percent of the world's population but we make up twenty five percent of the world's COVID DEATHS. That's on Donald Trump.
Trump's 2017 $2 Trillion tax cut wasn't necessary for an economy that had created jobs for 75 consecutive months whereas The American Rescue Plan in 2021 was necessary as 10 million jobs had been lost in 2020 under Donald Trump and we were losing 3 THOUSAND PEOPLE A DAY TO COVID and state governments had severely depleted coffers that would have hurt their residents and resulted in more job losses. The bottom 85% of American wage earners got a $1400 check and the expanded child tax credit nearly cut child poverty in half.
The pandemic caused inflation by damaging supply chains which resulted in reduced supply while demand remained unchanged which drove prices up. The pandemic was everywhere and so inflation was ubiquitous too. Using harmonized data, inflation has been lower here than in most other similarly situated nations in the G7. Inflation reached its peak at 9.1% in June of 2022 and then started consistently decreasing. Inflation is now 2.4% which is normal. The GDP grew by 3.1 % last year, better than any year under Donald Trump and 3.0 last quarter. The unemployment rate reached 6.3% under Donald Trump. It's now 4.1%. There have been 15 million jobs created including 800,000 manufacturing jobs. Wages grew at 4.0% over the last twelve months, faster than inflation over the last year.

The assertion that Vice President Harris is a bad vibe is the opposite of what the data show. Her job approval is positive or near parity which is amazing in this negative partisanship era. A huge amount of supporters immediately emerged when she became the nominee, 170,000 and a huge number of donations and a ton of money raised, 2/3 of the donors had not donated this cycle or, if memory serves, in previous cycles. The audiences in her campaign events are huge and the events are completely packed. None of this is true of Donald Trump. Donald Trump's unfavorables are extremely high.
