I was reading an article about the difficulties people in North Carolina are facing and was VERY excited to see our own randallt mentioned. What a relief to know that he is alive and still bringing happiness to others!
Helene flooded North Carolina with water. Now there isn’t enough to drink.
I hope this gift link works, but in any case here’s the mention, towards the end of the article:
Veteran busker Randall Thompson was greeting people while juggling a set of blue, red and yellow balls.
“I thought they needed me to bring smiles,” the 73-year-old said. “I keep telling kids they can’t get water unless they juggle.”
We are so fortunate to have people like Randall contributing regularly to Daily Kos and spreading love in the outside world. Here's his homepage with all of his diaries, the DKos Asheville Open Thread posted on Saturdays and North Carolina Open Thread posted on Sundays.
It’s hard for me to imagine the devastation left by Helene and how people are struggling to fill basic needs, but this mention of Randall was uplifting for me!
UPDATE!!
Great news, everyone, Randall posted a wonderful comment and photo! I’m adding it here, but click on the link to recommend his comment or answer him directly.
HI y’all! Thanks for the kind words. This is my first internet access since we got hit. My larger family is all ok. One daughter and husband and two grandkids evacuated this morning. No power or water anytime soon. One Grandson, and my Great, are doing well on high ground. The other and his husband left yesterday for Tennessee. My other daughter and I are here and fine as well as all critters.
It took about 12 hrs behind my electric! chainsaw Friday and Saturday to create a new path out of my yard. I came downtown to help bring smiles to everyone in line for water on Monday and it was so appreciated I keep coming back. And right now I’m about to have free lunch at Mellow Mushroom before heading back for more clown. I’ll check in when I can, but no internet at home for quite awhile.
All the love,
Randall
