I was fortunate to be able to attend VP Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston, Texas yesterday. Am a bit pooped but will write some of my impressions as I promised to do so and it really is my duty to do so. I’ll post more about the rally in my weekly, VP Kamala Harris Roundup.
Having seen the long lines at VP Kamala Haris’ rallies, I arrived at the Shell Energy Stadium 4 hours before gate opening and thine line was already a block long, plus the people snailed around the area by the entrance. I was lucky to be in good company while waiting. One of the women in line with me kept asking everyone if they had voted yet and most had. Those who hadn’t voted yet said they would be doing so soon. She also surveyed people in the line as to where they were from A couple near me in line near me came from San Antonio (more about them later). Others were from Odessa and Midland, Texas.
About 6 PM, The DJ had us singing and dancing. Have embedded the full video of the event so people can experience it.
While waiting for the speakers, I chatted with my seat neighbor (and the line neighbor I mentioned before, a man born in El Salvador who came to the US at age 12. He has been a Republican but voted for Allred and Harris. He also has yard signs for them in his Republican neighborhood. He said he lost a lot of friends, some who he has helped out in the past, who won’t speak to him anymore. He said he changed for his wife.
The crowd went wild for Colin Allred:
Hear the roar!
One of these protesters — looks like a MAGA to me- was behind where I was sitting. The crowd was not having it.
It was so wonderful to see the best of my fellow Texans last night. I do think that Colin Allred will win and that VP Kamala Harris will do well in Texas.
