JD Vance was interviewed by Kristin Welker this morning and refused to call Putin an “enemy” while reiterating Trump’s fascistic claim that American citizens who disagree with him politically are, in fact, “enemies.”
Not surprising, but to hear Vance make these statements within minutes of each other is ugly and stunning. This contrast should be made into an ad immediately. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz should be pounding this interview for the final week.
JD Vance refuses to label Putin “an enemy”:
Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), former President Trump’s running mate, refrained from labeling Russian President Vladimir Putin an “enemy,” instead saying he’s an “adversary” and urging diplomacy to help end the war in Ukraine.
Same interview:
Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio,) the Republican vice-presidential nominee, defended former President Trump for calling his domestic political opponents “the enemy from within” and for saying they pose the greatest political threat to the country.
“What he said, and I do agree with this – what he said is that the biggest threat we have in our country, it’s not a foreign adversary, because we can handle these guys.”
We’ve known that Trump, Vance and much of the GOP (and their supporters, including Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson) are in Putin’s pocket, but refusing to concede that Putin is an enemy of the United States while openly declaring war on fellow American citizens because they disagree politically in the same conversation is an incredible contrast.
This would make a solid final week ad. And Kamala Harris should be pounding this in the final week.
