I’m the GenZ Climate Scientist running for Congress in Florida’s 12th District. Thank you for your incredible response to my last story, I am in the trenches helping Helene victims. My opponent for Congress rejected storm aid. You stepped up and contributed almost $2,000, enabling me to convert at least some unpaid volunteers into paid staff.
A few days ago Bethesda 1971 reminded me that the deadline for voter registration in Florida is this Monday, October 7. It’s also the deadline for Arizona, Georgia, Montana, Ohio and Texas.
Since then, my staff — paid and unpaid — has worked day and night contacting young voters at Florida’s largest universities: Florida State University, the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, and more.
They have sent more than 10,000 texts and made more than 8,000 phone calls. and they’re not stopping now. They have gotten at least 2,000 positive responses and estimate there will likely be thousands of new GenZ registered Florida voters by the October 7 deadline.
Our campaign is completely grassroots financed — which includes DailyKos. We get zero from the party. For every $50 I can pay to a staff member, they’re averaging an outreach of 1000 phone calls and texts combined. Our best guess is that this could result in dozens of new voters per per hour, which is an incredible return on a modest investment.
We greatly appreciate your contributions, which will enable us to continue our efforts through Monday. Not only will you have a “Piece of the Rock,” you’ll be a part of the effort to help flip Florida to Harris/Walz and elect Debbie Murcasel-Powell.
