Voting for Republicans, or not voting at all, (or voting for a third party), doing those things does not support Black Americans.
The little dog is named Itzl.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at, to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off Daily Kos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on Daily Kos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
This is our current schedule of regular IAN diary writers:

80% of Black Americans vote for Democrats.
Anyone who fails to also vote for Democrats is saying one of two things:
- Those Black folks do not know what is best for them, since everyone is better off when Republicans are elected.
- I do not care what is best for Black folks. I do not want to help them, and maybe I want to harm them.
I must be a slow learner, because I was not keenly aware of that until now.
Let us look at the election results of the last three Presidential elections:
en.wikipedia.org/…
In the 2016 election, Trump got almost 63 million votes.
Hillary Clinton got almost 66 million votes, but you all know how the Electoral College gave the victory to Trump.
But go back to the 63 million votes for Trump.
Keep that number in mind as we go to the 2020 election:
en.wikipedia.org/...
In 2020, Trump got more than 74 million votes.
Yes, Joe Biden got more than 81 million votes, and he got the Electoral College win.
But look at Trump’s numbers again.
He went from 63 million votes to 74 million votes.
He gained 11 million votes.
Democrats gained 15 million votes.
Clearly, 26 million more voters came out and voted.
en.wikipedia.org/…
In 2024, Trump’s number of votes was about the same, 74 million votes.
Kamala Harris got about 71 million votes.
So, about 10 million voters voted for Biden, but not Harris and not Trump.
So, how do we win in 2028?
Since I think it is likely that some (at least a few) of the Trump voters do not actually hate Black Americans, maybe we can persuade some of them that the only way they can prove that they do not hate Black Americans, is to vote for Democrats, for the reasons stated above.
That may be very difficult to do and may not ever get a lot of voters to change sides, but it might be worth a try.
Now for the 10 million voters who voted for Biden, but not Harris:
Most likely the vast majority of them truly do not hate Black Americans.
We need to explain to them what I stated above: the only way to show that you do not hate Black Americans is to vote for Democrats.
That is the only way.
I have one more idea about winning in 2028.
But I have been struggling with depression during my Monday, and this diary so far is making me feel better.
So, I will end this diary here and write about that other idea next week.
Hugs!
