Hey y’all!! I haven’t seen open threads lately. Is that still a thing? I hope I’m not violating any rules.
I wanted to write this as a venting thread on any topic, politics, personal or whatever. I’ll start.
I lost my shit this morning listening to Ritchie Torres on Morning Joe. They gave him a lengthy segment. He started out by slamming Biden and his actions (or inactions) on the “migrant crisis”, and then quickly moved along to stating that we lost because of this and because of “the left” and because of “defund[ing] the police”.
Mika — who isn’t my favorite — chimed in with some pretty serious reality for Ritchie. She stated that the Biden Administration supported the toughest bipartisan border bill in history and Trump killed it. Torres countered that Biden waited until late in the game to “close the border”, and Mika pointed out that Biden had addressed that by stating that easing the impacts of inflation was his number one concern (which was also the top concern of voters). She also threw in the disinformation and propaganda by bad actors foreign and domestic. Torres gets bad bonus points (negative points?) for vastly overstating Biden’s negative approval ratings. You can watch the whole thing here if you have the stomach for it — it’s a dumpster fire. Enjoy his nonsensical rambling at about 7 minute mark when Mika, you know, talks about reality.
I’m not arguing that we need to be more or less “left” (which means something different to literally everyone). I’m arguing that Democrats like Ritchie Fucking Torres, who’s been in Congress a hot-ass minute and who rode in on Biden’s coattails in 2020, needs to focus on Trump and the GOP. If he thinks this is helpful to Democrats gearing up for the fight ahead, he needs to find another profession. Same goes for all of the Democrats out there blaming Democrats instead of blaming propaganda and the lies on the right and the gullibility of the average voter and working on that.
Maybe let him know in a reply on his latest post on Xitter to knock it off?
