Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Tuesday’s Morning Open Thread.
Editor’s Note: Morning Open Thread is looking for community members willing to take on hosting duties—whether it’s a day here and there or a regular weekly post: Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays are available. If you’re interested, just reach out to me or Officebss.
Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.

On Saturday, the chance of rain this week was right at zero, with a few percentage points showing for Thursday. By Sunday, the chance of rain was more defined for Thursday. Monday morning (yesterday), the chance of rain went from 0% to 80% with an 85% chance for today. It sprinkled for about 10 minutes yesterday afternoon and then started raining for real around 6:00—and it is still raining this morning. No complaints, just noting how hard it is to schedule exterior construction work this time of year, before prevalent winds have shifted from the warmer northernly flow to the colder southern flow. Then again, the weather has been lovely for November and this is the first disrupting rain we’ve had in some weeks.
Cheers everyone.
Given that we don’t have a permanent editor for Tuesdays, I figured we could use the slot as a refresher on some basics of the election process, institutions, and political philosophies. So, for the next few weeks, I’m going to feature a few overall explanations a maybe a couple closer looks.
