While we all have been focused on the danger Donald Trump is to democracy and all of us, we forgot about the danger that JD Vance poses.
When Joe Biden was still in the race, the Republicans made a big deal about if Joe Biden passed away Harris would become the president. Now the shoe is on the other foot.
If Trump dies in office, and I really mean when, then we'll be saddled with JD Vance as president. I say this death of Trump will happen because of his health. He's been hiding his medical records since 2015. His doctor notes have been dictated by him. He hasn't had a real health exam that anyone knows of. All we know is what we see of him. Getting more confused, angry, forgetful, and using more swear words than before. All signs of cognitive decline and dementia.
Things are not much better with Vance. Talk about inexperience. He's only been a senator since January 3rd of 2023. He's made 45 speeches in the US Senate and put forth 57 bills and none of them have passed. In other words, he's been less than useful in the Senate.
We all know the story about JD Vance starting the rumor with a tweet about the Haitian immigrants eating cats in Springfield, Ohio. Then when he was confronted by it with Dana Bash, he admitted that he had made the whole thing up and he would continue telling stories that were lies in order to make people pay attention to problems.
Before that it was his comments of childless cat ladies that was in the news. So I went looking for quotes by JD Vance. There's a site here, that has many passages from his book Hillbilly Elegy online. I had to stop scrolling because what he says is both a sign of a lack of intelligence and a total lack of empathy.
Let's look at the things he said about Trump. In 2016 he wrote that he goes, "back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical a-hole like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler."
Vance understandably deleted all his tweets from 2016. One of those deleted tweets reference the Access Hollywood tape. "Fellow Christians, everyone is watching us when we apologize for this man. Lord help us."
He said, "I'm a never Trump guy." "My God, what an idiot." In an op-ed for the New York Times he wrote, "Mr. Trump is unfit for the nation's highest office." He's said "I can't stomach Trump." "I think he's noxious and leading the white working class to a very dark place." How about that if he felt that Trump might win in 2016, "I might have to hold my nose and vote for Hillary Clinton."
It's been fun watching him try to walk back these older comments about Trump. He squirms a lot, but he lies so well. We all know about Trump's lies but Vance's are even worse because he so plausible with his demeanor. Plausible deniability. If Trump succeeds we would have two hypocrites in office. And when Trump passes, who would he choose as his vice president?
As a senator, Vance lobbied to defeat the Ohio Constitutional Amendment guaranteeing women's rights to an abortion. He called it a "gut punch" after it passed.
When asked about rape and incest exceptions for abortions he said, "Two wrongs don't make a right." Society shouldn't view a birth as a result of rape or incest as "inconvenient."
No matter what topic we choose, Vance will be on the wrong side of the American public and their wishes, as well as that of history.
Vance has admitted that he will lie to get what he wants. That's dangerous. Trump must be defeated in order to keep Vance out of both offices.
