Mount Pleasant is a nice little suburban community in the Monongahela Valley.
Their annual Halloween parade is sponsored by the volunteer fire department.
This year, as always, the high school marching band was there, in costume, along with the dance team and the flag team.
There were kids in costume and trucks pulling floats with people tossing candy to the crowd.
A good time was being had by all, until an ATV appeared among the costumed characters. There was a gun mounted on the top. Nobody talks about that, but there was. Standing in the back was a man dressed as Donald Trump. Walking behind, her hands tied, like a prisoner was a woman dressed as Kamala Harris.
No one seems to know who was behind this appalling display. The Volunteer Fire Department has always allowed anyone to participate in their parade. That is about to change.

But this has to be a new low for the MAGA crowd. Invading a kids’ parade to make a political statement, in an ATV with a gun on the top!
No one talks about the gun, but you have to wonder how many parents hauled their kids home when they saw it.
Others had to explain who the lady was, and why she was tied up.
All in all, it was a pretty horrible thing to do at a kids’ parade.
I wouldn’t have been any happier if it had been Vice President Harris in the ATV and Trump in chains.
There is a time and a place for political commentary. A community gathering like the Point Pleasant Halloween Parade is not it.
Please note that it was Trump supporters who created the display, including a gun and a seriously racist image of a presidential candidate. This is a new low for them.
I want to say they can’t go any lower, but I am certain they can and they will.
