The DNC is set to have an election for a new DNC Chair on February 1st, 2025. The DNC Chair, as the title suggests, sets the tone for the Democratic Party and forms the strategy for the party moving forward from the 2024 election. Considering that we are in the twilight of our republic, staring into the abyss of fascism, who is picked as the DNC Chair is more important than ever.
Make no mistake, we will almost certainly win in 2026 and 2028, regardless of who is DNC Chair. As we have already seen from the chaos of the Trump Transition Team, Trump is going to fuck things up — bigly. Trump is going to be profoundly unpopular, and there are already murmurings of impeachment the second Trump’s rump hits the Oval Office. MAGA is already preparing for us to make such a move: www.newsweek.com/… So, one way or another, 2026 and 2028 will probably go our way.
***MAJOR DISCLAIMER — All of that is dependent on us still having free and fair elections — something that could be contentious to claim we will have***
This being said, however, I do not simply want to “beat” MAGA and Trump in 2026/2028. We want to crush them. We want the DNC to be turned into a juggernaut of political warfare unseen since the days of FDR.
I want our 1936 FDR vs. Alf Landon — where FDR won the presidency with 523 electoral votes.
For any of that, we need to pick the right DNC Chair.
We cannot have anymore more of this “my colleagues on the other side of the aisle” bullshit. We need people who will say, “to the Fascists over there...” We need people who will say, “Yeah I’m liberal/progressive, and that makes me a fucking patriot.” This is how the DNC wins back the worker class, and picking the right DNC Chair is the beginning of all of that.
Obviously an idiot like Rahm “Wall-Street” Emanuel is the wrong choice for any of that.
The best choice, for the entirety of the DNC, is to elect someone to DNC Chair that — at a minimum — embraces Progressives, and lives to fucking fight Republicans. This is how we keep the party voter base from fracturing, as the trend has been to push the DNC towards the center since 2016 (and look how well that is working for us so far).
There appear to be two prominent choices for DNC Chair at the moment (aside from Rahm Emanuel).
Martin O’Malley, and
Ken Martin.
Martin O’Malley, based upon what I said, does not appear to be the best choice. O’Malley’s principal political work appears to have been when served as the Governor of Maryland, which was marred by a low approval rating of 41%. The biggest cause for this low approval rating was O’Malley’s self-admitted botched roll-out of the Affordable Care Act.
“We didn’t do very well.”
Then there is also O’Malley’s wavering on Progressivism. Back in 2015, O’Malley had said,
“Where is the progressive movement going if this is the sort of shellacking we receive in the midterms?”
Furthermore, O’Malley hasn’t really been involved in party politics since his failed bid for the presidency in 2016, working at various colleges and then being picked by Biden to be the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration in 2023.
O’Malley strikes me as the typical DNC Politician we have seen since 2000. Goes along with all of the party’s lines, but as soon as the party takes a “shellacking” he has doubts and second thoughts, and as soon as he gets pushed back from presidential nomination he takes a 10 year break from politics... We do not need anymore of that.
Then there is Ken Martin.
Ken Martin does not have much experience in politics from being in office. Martin is what we would call an operative. Here is where Martin is interesting — he was one of the leading figures in turning Minnesota Blue, distinguishing himself as a fighter. When Martin was 17, he interned for MN Senator Paul Wellstone’s campaign, and then worked in Wellstone’s official office. When Wellstone was 19, he organized college campuses for the Clinton/Gore Campaign. After college, Martin became the Field Director of the Kansas Democratic Party. By 1998, at 25, Martin became the Political & Field Director for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (the Minnesota branch of the DNC).
In 2010, Martin directed the recount effort for MN Governor Mark Dayton’s election bid, and won — this ushered in the first DNC governor Minnesota had in 24 years.
Since then, Martin has been the Chair of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL). In that time, Martin has overseen the reconstruction of the Minnesota DNC, solving the branch’s debt, securing DNC wins in the MN government, and pressing some of the most Progressive policies in the Union.
It should also be noted that Minnesota was the only other midwestern state to vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election (aside from the great state of Illinois). I mean — c’mon. That makes Martin a no-brainer choice alone.
It was also Martin and the DFL that gave us:
Tim Walz…
And mind you, Kamala Harris’ polling was never higher than it was the day after Tim Walz was picked to be her VP running mate — just saying.
Given what I have written, the choice is clear.
Ken Martin is our fighter. He has crucial experience for rebuilding the DNC and leading it to lasting success — as he has already demonstrated with the Minnesota DNC.
All of that exhaustingly said, here is what you can do to help Ken Martin be the pick for DNC Chair.
Contact your representatives, your local DNC Party groups, and anyone else who may have influence (or better yet, a vote) on the DNC Chair election. It is important when you contact any of these people that you have to inflate who you are a little bit. It is sad, and pathetic, but in the cacophony of noise and billionaire donors, you have to make yourself appear to be larger than just one person screaming at the clouds.
Do not just write “my name is XYZ,” and leave it at that. I am sure that most, if not all of you, have friends and family who agree with you. And I am equally sure that many of you live in… contentious districts (Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and etc.). If so, then label yourself as a representative of your family/friend group of the area you are from — hell, get creative with it. Here’s an example that I would use:
“My name is Sinai. I represent the Arlington Progressives of X district, a traditionally Blue district.”
This grabs the attention of whatever political operative you are writing to more than if you just say, “Hi, I am John Doe.”
If you think this sounds stupid or silly, remember that this is exactly how “Moms for Liberty” got so much traction within the RNC. Read up on Tammany Hall politics for even more historical context.
I would recommend writing something along the lines of the following:
Dear name of DNC operative,
My name is, Sinai. I represent the Arlington Progressives for America (APA) of X District, a historically Blue area. Following the 2024 election and the defeat of Kamala Harris, we are frustrated and disheartened by the DNC. We are tired of continually seeing MAGA and Trump win again and again over DNC politicians. It is time for a change within the party, and we are starting to doubt whether or not the current leaders of the party are up to the task. We need fighters, not more appeasement.
We know that the DNC is going to elect a new Chair this coming February. We are petitioning that you endorse Ken Martin for the position of DNC Chairman. The DNC needs leaders that will stop playing nice with Fascists and do what needs to be done to take all of us out of the pockets of authoritarians and billionaires. We believe Ken Martin is the first step towards that goal. Ken Martin helped turn Minnesota Blue, and has worked for the common people with the most Progressive policies in the country to resounding success. We have noticed his work in securing three DNC governorships in Minnesota, including Tim Walz, and we have noticed his steadfast determination to fight the RNC since he led the recount efforts for Governor Mark Dayton.
Ken Martin is the fighter we need to battle Trump and MAGA.
We also know that the DNC is considering placing someone such as Rahm Emanuel as Chairman.
This is totally unacceptable.
We have also noticed Rahm Emanuel’s ties to Wall-Street and his appalling decisions that have only hurt Americans (including closing over 50 public schools as Mayor of Chicago). If the DNC chooses a “Wall-Street” Democrat over the wishes of the people, we will have lost all faith and credit in the DNC as a serious defender of the United States against MAGA Fascism. This will leave us with no choice but to lobby for Independent and other brand new non-incumbent DNC Politicians within our district to force real change...
and for us to communicate with our allies abroad to do the same.
Our endgame is for Trump and MAGAism to be defeated, not just in 2026/2028, but forever. We believe the DNC is our best shot at accomplishing this patriotic aim. Please do not demonstrate to us that our faith has been misplaced.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sinai
Arlington Progressives for America
Obviously, if push comes to shove, do not vote for independent 3rd party candidates. Doing so just hands free votes to the RNC as the DNC crumbles. State a threat, like above, is for dramatic effect to slap the DNC into listening. It is the only way to cut through the noise. Together, with enough angry voices, we can be like the Who’s in “Horton Hears a Who.”
