This is a compilation of several news stories about Musk that you should know about.
First is the announcement that Musks Starlink satellite network is ready to provide cellular phone service. You don't have to change your phone, you can use your already existing one. The satellites operate just like cell phone towers. He's got 320 of these satellites up in space already, and they show a download speed of 17 Mbps. Kind of a game changer when you realize that he wouldn't need to charge for roaming services. You'd be able to use your phone anywhere on Earth without any extra charges, except for texting and data service. Musk is teaming up with T-Mobile. He still has to get FCC approval to commercially use the setup and to operate outside normal radio emission rules, otherwise he can't support real time voice and video.
Namibia has issued a cease and desist order for Starlink's operations because he is operating without a license in their country. Starlink has applied for a license, but it hasn't been granted it yet. The government has also told the public not to purchase Starlink terminals. The government has already confiscated terminals from people who purchased them.
Elon Musk's DOGE partner, Vivek Ramaswamy, is going to take a hard look at the Biden loan to competitor car company Rivian. $6.6 billion is the amount of the loan. Vivek has called it a "political shot across the bow" against Musk. The loan from the Department of Energy is to restart construction of an electric vehicle factory in Georgia, which would create 7,500 jobs by 2030. Trump's Administration has said that they want to scrap the $7,500 credit for buying an EV which economists say would cut the EV sales market by 27%.
Tesla owners in the United Kingdom are feeling buyer's remorse. Many are saying they feel embarrassed to be driving the car around. As you might have guessed, they are not happy with Elon Musk's embrace of Trump. Many are putting stickers on their car that bear the words, "Anti Elon Tesla Club", and "I Bought This Before Elon Went Crazy." There is also one with Elon in clown makeup that says "Space Clown."
Elon says giant corporations own giant game companies, so his giant corporation is going to make games great again. I hate this word, but Musk says game companies have gotten too "woke." It will be an AI studio, and currently, xAI has 100,000 Nvidia GPUs ready to go.
Elon Musk has a job listing out that will pay $6,000 a month for you to wear a 3D goggle and a haptic suit that keeps track of all your movements, and you do this for 8 hours a day. You do have to be available to work night shifts, do overtime, and work on the weekends. The assumption is that this is part of Musk's foray into robotics.
