The headline says it all…. per politico: Link
President Donald Trump announced Saturday night that he has picked Kash Patel to be the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Patel, a Trump transition insider, was also angling to be deputy director of the CIA. That position would not have required Senate confirmation, unlike the FBI director post, which does.
The president-elect also announced that he’s selected Chad Chronister, sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida, to serve as administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Chronister joins a long line of Floridians Trump has picked to join his administration.
This is a pick perhaps even worse than Gaetz. This guy is the definition of slimy. His appointment will need Senate confirmation… once again we will see whether any of the GOP cowards in the senate can find a spine and say no..they shot down Gaetz fast. He was either the sacrificial lamb upon whom everyone else will cruise by, or he was a sign that the Senators are unwilling to utterly abdicate all of their powers and responsibilities. We will find out with Kash.
And if you needed to know why this guy is bad news:
Former NSC official Fiona Hill testified during Trump’s first impeachment trial that a staffer told her Patel, when he was at the NSC, was privately feeding Trump information about Ukraine and the then-president described him as the council’s “Ukraine director.” Hill said that “alarmed everybody,” because Ukraine was not part of Patel’s remit and he was not on the list to receive materials about it. Officials also raised issues with an instance in which Patel claimed that then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told him the U.S. had received airspace permission from Nigeria as it executed a rescue mission to retrieve an American hostage. That was in fact not true, and the plane had to circle around while officials scrambled to alert Nigerian authorities about their plan, with Pompeo saying he had never spoken with Patel.
“A lot of people say he’s crazy,” Trump reportedly said about Patel, according to an anonymous adviser cited by The Atlantic. “I think he’s kind of crazy. But sometimes you need a little crazy.”
One of the most sycophantic and crazy lackeys being placed in one of the most critical and powerful positions in the U.S. Government. What could go wrong?
