Well, I had reason today to wonder how I handled the morning post four years ago. And eight years ago.
Eight years ago, when we did know the unfortunate outcome, I changed the customary exclamation point in the post title to a period.
Four years ago, when we didn’t know the outcome and feared the worst, I had this to say:
I’m still sitting here looking at a Twitter feed full of Republicans insisting that Trump turned my county red for the first time in years, but also a county elections office page that says with 100% of the vote counted, Trump lost it 61-37. So you tell me what to make of that.
What can we say now?
Today is the twenty-third Wednesday that Donald Trump has been a convicted felon.
It’s now 21 days until Trump’s re-re-scheduled sentencing.
And 45 days until the government next runs out of funding.
That’s all still true.
How it shakes out from here on in, well, stick around. Like Greg Dworkin always says, we’ll have to wait and see.
