Something that's been on my mind since the recent election, with all the discussion about the price of eggs and the changing demographic, is how a lot of these working class Trump voters are currently getting healthcare insurance.
One of the weird but true aspects of the Teabagger protests was the occasional battle cry of "Keep the govment out of my Medicare!" coming from someone buzzing around on their Medicare provided scooter.
The same is now true for the ACA, that many really depend on — no doubt including the new Trump Bro frat boy voters on their parents health care thanks to the ACA.
Many who now depend on the ACA today may have also punished Democrats in the following midterm for actually giving it to them. No Democratic good deed seems to ever go unpunished, or ever receives proper gratitude. Many likewise may hate “Obamacare” but love the ACA not even realizing it’s the same thing. Ironically, the most vicious personal attack I have ever been subjected to, was by some Evangelical Christians because I signed up for the ACA, and was now a “Communist”.
Certainly, Republicans have absolutely nothing in the way to offer in the way of healthcare, and they would love to scuttle Medicare, Medicaid and the ACA, maybe just replacing them with what would essentially be just a cardboard cutout of healthcare at best.
So, Trump wins in a landslide over something the president really has very little control over, on the basis of his fictional reputation as a businessman from his lame reality TV show, meanwhile, we are urged to tack hard to the right and forget all about great ideas, like Medicare For All.
Something tells me if Project 2025 sweeps in, there will be a lot of overweight Face Eating Leopards as many Trump voters stare into the mirror and scream.
