I would like to presume that it’s possible for me to communicate with most other English speaking people and to a tiny degree with some Spanish speaking people. Many incidents have shown me that it simply isn’t possible to communicate with some people on some subjects. Case in point — I once showed a local field rock to a fellow local farmer and asked him if he had any thoughts about the clearly defined sea shell visible on its surface. He replied with one simple comment, “That’s rock too.”
I don’t recollect asking anyone about the rock shown here in this diary. At first glance it looks like a man made wheel of some sort, but it isn’t. It is some kind of sandstone I found while digging in a sinkhole on our farm here in Logan County, KY. This farm is on the Pennyroyal plain a number of miles south of the dripping springs escarpment. Most of the rock here would be classified as St. Louis Limestone.
On my sinkhole dig, I eventually unearthed a cave entrance but didn’t take it beyond one small room. The journey to a spot where my diggings wouldn’t wash back into the cave finally became too long for me to cope with.
What does any of this have to do with current events? Not much. But it diverted my attention from the current state of affairs in the nation for a short while. If you read to the end, maybe you need a diversion too.
