One phrase I repeatedly heard throughout the presidential campaign was, “When Trump says he’s going to do something, believe him because he is going to do it.” And that is true. I believe 100% that he is going to do everything he said. I even believe he will do the things he didn’t say but implied (national abortion ban). When I watched Harris, she made all these pledges that would be tremendous, make life better, and improve people’s lives, and I knew at the time, whether I wanted to admit it or not, that all those promises would not happen. Not in 100 years. When she said she would do something, I didn’t believe her. I wanted to, but I didn’t. That is a significant problem the Democrats need to solve, and the solution is right across the aisle.
Democrats need to start today, immediately, playing politics like Republicans. They need to learn how to fight and fight dirty. Every single thing that Democrats have done in the past does not work anymore. Protests don’t work, pink hats don’t work, marches don’t work, and appealing to people’s compassion doesn’t work. All those things aren’t fighting; they’re passive annoyances, temporary rage, and words with no action.
Here’s a great example: There is a school shooting, and Democrats protest, march, and appeal to people’s common sense; a couple of days go by, the outrage dies down, and nothing changes. Is that fighting for change? Guns are the #1 killer of kids, and you think Democrats are fighting to protect kids? How? When? I knew the Democrats were full of shit after Sandy Hook. A class full of 1st graders gets slaughtered during a Democratic presidency, and nothing changed. Not a single thing. There was no fight. The Republicans said no, and the Dems said ok. And that was it. There has never been a fight to stop gun violence. At least the Republicans are honest; they offer thoughts and prayers and say that they aren’t going to change anything. If Sandy Hook wasn’t enough to get Democrats to FIGHT for the safety of our kids, what is?
If Democrats want to win national elections and change the course of the country, they need to stop worrying about courting Republicans and “working with the other side of the aisle.” Fuck them. Harris said that she would have a Republican in her cabinet. That is an idiotic thing to say. I vote for Democrats to keep Republicans out of power, and now you’re going to invite them in? STOP. JUST STOP! What would Trump say if asked if he’d have a Democrat in his cabinet? That should be the Democrat's answer, too. When are the Dems going to learn that no matter what they do, say, or enact, the right will passionately and, if needed, violently oppose them? You’re not converting anyone; stop trying. Bend over backward for YOUR supporters, not the other side.
We have all watched the Republicans make fools of themselves supporting Trump over the last 8 years, but they knew he would get them to a place where they could get what they wanted. And he delivered. Republicans want control over women. Trump gave them that. What did Democrats do to stop it when they knew that was their mission? Nothing. Sure, when the Dobbs decision came down, there were protests, outrage, and horrifying stories, but none of that mattered. When Biden was president, hell, when Obama was president, why wasn’t reproductive rights codified into law? Because the Republicans said no, and the Democrats said ok.
Every Democrat knows the damage that a second Trump presidency is going to do to this country. What did the Democrats do to protect this country from it? Nothing. They tried to impeach him twice; the Republicans said no, and the Democrats said ok. Trump broke countless laws, for fucks sake, he led an insurrection, and the Democrats did nothing to hold him accountable. I can’t count how many goddamn times I heard, “Image if Obama had done this, he’d be in prison or worse.” YES! He would have! Because he would have deserved to go to prison, and the Republicans would have fought nonstop until he got put in a cell. The Democrats pranced around for 4 years, debating whether Trump could be prosecuted because some memo that was written 40 years ago was “precedent.” Fuck precedent. Have a spine and do something.
During the four years Biden was in office, he did nothing to protect the country from Trump. He didn’t expand the Supreme Court, make Puerto Rico or Washington DC a state, or enact any voter protection laws. Amazingly, during the Biden Administration, things got EASIER for Trump to pillage the country. Trump is coming back into office with full immunity for any action taken as president in an official capacity. Yeah, seriously. Thanks, Joe!
I’ve seen memes and articles about Biden having complete immunity for the last 90 days of his presidency and that he should use it. I agree he should, but he won’t. He won’t because it wouldn’t be the democratic thing to do. Get over yourself. Use it. Abuse it. Go crazy with it. Get off your moral high horse and fight; stand and defend what you believe in. He won’t do it. The Democrats are trying to pass the No Kings Act to remove that presidential immunity. What an absolute joke. The Republicans will say no, and the Democrats will lie down and say ok. If Biden had expanded the Court, at least Trump wouldn’t have full fucking immunity.
Democrats, actions speak louder than words. Democrat's problem is they speak the words, but there is rarely action. Next time a Democrat is campaigning and tells me that they are going to fight for me, and until they prove me wrong, I will not believe a word that comes out of their mouths. Trump may have told fifty thousand lies, but if we believe he is going to do what he says, does that still make him a liar? I don’t know. In a weird and twisted way, I find Trump more honest than most Democrats. That needs to change.
