My friends, we are comparing different things. The 2020 number is the final vote tally. There are a lot of votes yet to be counted and this will take a week or so. California is notoriously slow to produce the final tallies. I believe their current total accounts for half of the 15m missing votes.
The results are unlikely to change anything but we will have real numbers.
Now once the numbers are final then some rigorous analysis can be done.
Here is what I hope someone will do:
Create side by side comparisons between 2020 and 2024 at the county level.
Did the population change in each county?
Did both parties go down in the counties?
If only Democratic counties went down, why? Were people turned off or kept from voting?
I suspect we have some ideas about why but let’s start with hard data before we go too far with them.
