Donald J. Trump has promised to “Fix It” and now we will find out just what “IT” is.
We will returned to the land of constant fear after a brief reprieve of social progress and societal support, such as the IRA and the repair and expansion of infrastructure from roads and bridges to Internet connectivity. Why is this reversal necessary?
“Fear has been used as a tool of manipulation by both politicians and religious leaders throughout history. By creating a sense of fear or anxiety among the public, they can control and manipulate people, often leading to negative consequences for society as a whole.” Mehdi Maghsoodnia
Fear stops critical thinking. If you are in constant fear you are not thinking about anything except how to avoid the consequences of fear. In fact, if we are kept in a state of constant fear and uncertainty, we are in essence immobilized, as if we were an insect frozen in amber.
In the coming weeks and months and yes, years, we must shake off the paralyzing effects of fear and focus on addressing the sources of fear.
A lot of noise will be made about the issues that caused the election loss. The foundational truth is the fear that the U.S. changing from a majority white, monochronic population to one where white is no longer THE DOMINATE population. This is the root of the fear that Trump and his supporters, both foreign and domestic, pushed in every speech, add, post and tweet.
Privilege has been to white people as water is to fish.
They did not even notice it, until the message went out that you, white person, must be afraid because you will no longer be dominate in society and your default privilege will be gone.
Remember fear is the tool to freeze us into inaction.
