Restore the Delta’s Executive Director Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla just released the following statement responding to the 2024 election results, affirming the group’s continued opposition to the Delta Tunnel and “faux water management plans from both federal and state agencies.”
“Each and every day regardless of who has political power at any level, Restore the Delta will continue its advocacy, legal strategies, policy work, and public outreach to ensure the Delta meets science based Clean Water Act standards. We oppose the tunnel and faux water management plans from both federal and state agencies, and we will continue to develop green economy plans that bring equity and good paying jobs to the region.
“We fear nobody. We will speak truth to power in every direction in order to protect the largest estuary on the West Coast of the Americas, and we seek to protect all people tied to the watershed.
“Onward. We have fisheries, communities, tribes and farmers who all deserve a voice. Together we can restore the Delta.”

The election took place as four runs of Sacramento River Chinook salmon, Delta and longfin smelt, green sturgeon and other species are at risk of extinction, due to the export of massive amounts of water to corporate agribusiness from the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and other factors.
