Trump’s ETTD curse corrupted numerous time-honored, well-regarded institutions long before he became POTUS.
He assaulted the food and beverage industry with Trump steaks and wines; educational standards were lowered and nearly sneered at with the creation of Trump University.
Aviation was blackmarked by the what-the-actual-fuck introduction of Trump Airlines, and the OFM even managed to bankrupt a Casino.
An entire, whole, functioning, real-world, with people losing money in it, CASINO!
As President, Donnie Boi went on to massacre the American populace as well as the reputation of revered scientists and researchers, with a head-scratching COVID response and hundreds of subsequent, deadly conspiracy theories.
Today, the body politic must endure Trump’s evil taint in the sainted hall of the judiciary, embodied in the humanoid forms of three ill-appointed MAGA Supreme Court Justices and one Judge Aileen Cannon.
MAGA, who doesn’t have the sense Gawd gave a galloping piss ant, actually wants more of this, please. Perhaps this is why Aileen Cannon has become the far-right’s IT girl, as she symbolizes all that is wrong in the weird, upside-down, opposite world of Trumplandia.
It's a good thing we have Special Prosecutor Jack Smith on our side, as he is done with the dumb and is about to show Aileen Cannon who she is messing with!
I'm going to start calling this the Jack-Slap
Like most corrupt politicos in Trump’s greasy ass pocket, Aileen Cannon asked Trump, “How high, Massah Suh,” after he snapped his fingers and told her to reveal names of protected witnesses and secret agents to the public.
The request came after a disingenuous docket filing by Trump’s legal team, who attached protected information given to them as part of discovery to a recent motion to compel.
Trump Co.'s public filing was, yah now public, and since it was, yah know, public, there could be little difficulty in asking the Judge to make all the redacted names of protected witnesses and agents open to the world too. I mean, Trump has already done half the work by attaching the secret stuff to the public stuff.
*Nudge, nudge, wink, wink* Take us all the way there, Aileen—since the docket filing is now all public and everything.
Ever the sycophantic yes girl, Miss Aileen granted the motion, finger poised and hovering over the SEND TO on her potentially deadly ruling—a ruling that placed Grand Jury secret testimonies, witnesses, and undercover agents at risk of harassment or death threats—when Jack sailed into the courtroom and yelled, “Not so fast, Loose Cannon!”
I love that artist's rendering of the event: imagine Jack Smith floating into the Courtroom with a cape flapping behind him as he holds his palm up in the universal signal of, “I say, HALT!”
Jack filed a motion that beat up Aileen’s Order
Homegirl didn’t even get a chance to get her smirk on before Jack Smith countered her negligent stupidity.
Special Prosecutor Smith pointed out that Judge Cannon applied the wrong legal standard in granting Trump’s motion. In doing so, she placed herself in the crosshairs of being reversed and, even just as likely, removed.
Dude blocked Aileen’s nonsense by filing a late-night motion for reconsideration so quickly it likely made her head spin; why, it’s almost like Jack Smith was prepared for her to do something idiotic and cruel.
Things to note about Smith simply filing the order to reconsider as opposed to going straight to the 11th circuit:
-
It shows tremendous restraint on Jack Smith’s part and makes him look like the grown-up in the room. The 11th Circuit Court will consider that when he finally appeals to them.
-
If her response to his countermotion highly favored Trump, it would reveal the partisan nature of her rulings.
-
I would not want Jack Smith to potentially endanger the witnesses and agents just to one-up Judge Cannon.
Besides, as per reporting by Meidas Touch Network, Jack Smith put the smackity-smack-down on Cannon in a move that stung so deeply, she cried Uncle and immediately backpedaled.
You can read a copy of the filing here:
Judge Cannon granted Trump's motion in part, and noted that the documents could be filed without redaction because the Government had failed to meet its burden of showing a compelling interest in making the redactions and that the action was narrowly tailored to achieve that interest. This standard is a lofty one to meet.
In last night's motion for reconsideration, the Special Counsel argues that Judge Cannon misapplied the law by requiring the Government to meet a burden higher than previously needed based on longstanding 11th Circuit precedent. Specifically, the Special Counsel argues that Judge Cannon should have applied a "good cause" standard, meaning that the Government had to show "good cause" to keep the documents sealed, instead of the compelling interest standard. In support of this argument, the Special Counsel cites to long-standing 11th Circuit case law.
The reconsideration motion notes that if Judge Cannon fails to reconsider her prior ruling, it would lead to manifest injustice that could expose the identities of government witnesses and the testimony they presented in front of the grand jury. As a result, in the event Judge Cannon does not reconsider this ruling, expect the Special Counsel's team to appeal the decision to the 11th Circuit to keep the identity of these witnesses under seal. — Meidas Touch Network
Smackity-Smack! You just experienced a JACK-SLAP!
What, that order? No, I wasn’t planning to enforce that order!
After Jack Smith’s filing, a wide-eyed and innocent Aileen Cannon told Jack Smith, “Okay, okay, look, why don't you go ahead and file? I will protect your info, I swear. I mean, do I look crazy? Bruh, I ain’t that Crazy.”
As soon as Jack Smith supplied the requested material, Cannon immediately reneged on everything she promised—and I mean immediately.
As per Meidas Touch Network:
On Friday, Judge Aileen Cannon made a very dangerous ruling in the Mar-a-Lago documents case, likely spurring Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team to work feverishly on a response.
Cannon ordered that by today, February 10, Jack Smith provide Donald Trump with information about the death threats against a confidential witness in the Mar-a-Lago document case, which Cannon previously allowed Jack Smith to file ex parte (meaning Trump can’t see it) and under seal (meaning the public can’t see it) as part of his motion for reconsideration.
Smith explained in detail the threats that were made to a prospective government witness and that "those threats are the subject of an ongoing federal investigation” and called out Cannon for applying an incorrect legal standard in her decision.
In short, Cannon at first assured Smith that he could file his evidence of witness intimidation (that is currently under investigation) without Trump or the public seeing it. Then, once it was filed, Cannon ordered Smith to turn it over to Trump immediately — a move likely to imperil the life of said witness.
Turns out she actually is that crazy.
February 9: Judge Cannon says she will hold on unsealing the witness list immediately, giving Trump until February 23 to respond. Then, Cannon orders Jack Smith to turn over that ex parte and under seal document to Trump by February 10 — the document Smith submitted along with his motion for reconsideration about the threats to a witness — effectively imperiling the safety of the witness and intentionally compromising the DOJ investigation.
Cannon is playing a serious yet dangerous game here, risking essential witnesses and lives for her Orange Master. I hope those in harm’s way have already been moved to secure locations.
I believe Jack Smith is prepared for her shenanigans and has something profound to counter her antics with.
I also think Aileen has finally provided Jack Smith with a reversible order that he can take to the 11th Circuit. The Special Prosecutor might even appeal her order while making the case that she must be forcibly recused.
Maybe we will finally eliminate this MAGA judge albatross once and for all—too bad so much time has been wasted. Perhaps that was the goal after all?
This is a developing story—stay tuned!
