Shooting at Houston's Lakewood Megachurch - Politics injected by Mayor Whitmire. I am pissed.

Approximately 3 hours ago, a tragic shooting occurred at Houston’s Lakewood church.  At around 2PM a woman entered the church armed with a long rifle, and also with a 5 year old child accompanying her.  After saying that she had a bomb with her, Houston Police engaged her.  During the firefight, the woman was shot and killed.  Unfortunately, the child that was with her was also shot, and is now hospitalized in critical condition.  The news conference is now in progress, and we are being updated on details of this tragedy.

First up in the news conference was mayor John Whitmire, and as he spoke I went into shock, as he spoke about how his program of agencies cooperating with each other was a rousing success.  There was not a single iota of empathy for the child who was also shot by the police.  This was essentially a post-political campaign speech by him, and I am thoroughly pissed.  This asshole even mentioned the Superbowl in his speech.  On election day, I was on the fence, but ended up voting for this opponent, Sheila Jackson Lee, because there was something about Whitmire that just didn’t add up.  Today, I know what that is.  Mayor John Whitmire is a piece of work.  He just showed the world what he really is.

On a side note, the woman who was killed was clearly insane.  Why the hell did she have a gun?  Because this is Texas, where our leaders don’t give a damn.
