am writing this little piece of commentary early in the morning (in Belgium). I woke up reading that the Trump legal team filed it’s appeal notice to the Supreme Court.
Which makes me wonder the following…And I am no lawyer or legal scholar by any means:
Trump is known to delay all his court cases and for trying to run out the clock. So why not wait until the end of the timeframe he has to file his appeal? If memory serves me correctly he has 90 days to file and little over 80 left of those days.
That would take us to the end of April before the Supreme Court has to decide to take up the case or not. If they do, that will take us right into the fall and the upcoming election. They may not decide to rule after the election whcih would be in Trumps favor.
What’s in it for Trump to appeal now? It is not the need for an answer to a constitutional pressing matter that needs to be resolved for generation to come, for sure. There muse be an angle, which I fail to see right now.
