You’re a Jan 6th insurrectionist who has been convicted of six felonies which include assaulting four Capitol Hill Police Officers and various misdemeanors (theft, trespassing, and disorderly conduct). There is ample evidence that you planned to be part of the violence that day. The judge states he doesn’t believe your act of contrition in the courtroom. The government requests that said insurrectionist get 109 months behind bars. Yet when it comes time for your sentencing, you get 33 months in prison.
And some in the justice system wonder why your average American might be a little cynical when it comes to the application of justice?
The insurrectionist in question is one Brian Christopher Mock, 44. Here is what Mock did on Jan 6th:
On the Capitol’s west plaza, he helped rioters remove a bike rack barricade and pushed an officer who had fallen as the crowd pushed forward, authorities said.
He grabbed a flagpole, broke it in half, and hurled it “like a spear” at the line of officers, authorities said. He shoved one officer in the back and another in the chest, sending that officer into concrete steps in excruciating pain.
As the officers retreated, Mock picked up two police riot shields lying on the ground and passed them back to rioters as the mob pressed forward and officers tried to stop them by spraying mace, a moment commemorated in a photo Mock posted later showing one reddened eye that appears irritated. At one point, Mock found a police baton and carried it around “as a weapon,” authorities said.
Now, Mock asked for a bench trial, and Mock claims that he is not the same man as when he was first arrested. His lawyer stated the following:
“He has grown, matured, and become much more self-reflective.”
And there was more of this self-serving bullshit from the defense and Mock. For fair use sake, I can’t list all the lies he told in court, so you need to go and read the article to see what a fire hydrant of lies was gushing out in court.
Turns out that this is all another act because Mock planned on being part of a “total rebellion.” Mock texted and wrote on social media what he did that day, and he had “no regrets.” He bragged to others about beating up those cops. On his Facebook page, he posted on Jan 8th that he had told his family that he might not be back but was OK with that.
And U.S. District Court Chief Judge James E. Boasberg — a Barack Obama appointee — did not believe Mock, or so he said. The prosecution asked that Mock get 109 months. According to the law, Mock could have gotten 20 years. Instead, Judge Boasberg sentenced Mock to 33 months.
That’s barely more than 8 months for each cop assaulted.Did I mention that Mock has a criminal record for a firearms conviction back in 2010? And even his oldest son provided a tip to the FBI about his father. His own son!
By the way, Mock also claims he has seen the light and thinks there should be “accountability” for politicians who lied about the 2020 Election.
Mock, who was a strong supporter of Donald Trump, said during his sentencing hearing that he heard the "same thing over and over again" from Republican politicians who falsely claimed that there was massive election fraud in 2020. Mock noted that none of those prominent politicians who made such claims in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 attack had since come forward to apologize or to claim that they too were duped.
"There should be some accountability for that because I wouldn't have been there otherwise," Mock told Chief U.S. District Judge James Boasberg on Thursday…
Many Jan. 6 defendants have taken the "idiot" defense during their sentencing proceedings, telling judges they believed lies about the election because they were gullible, duped, manipulated, poorly educated or lacked critical thinking skills. Boasberg said he had gotten to know Mock better than any other Jan. 6 defendant who appeared before him and said he believed Mock was intelligent and reflective.
And there is your reason for why Mock got such a light sentence. With time served, Mock is expected to SPEND LESS THAN TWO YEARS IN PRISON! Boasberg bought his BS conversion hook, line, and sinker.
