On 11 April 2024, a neo-Nazi from Salem, New Hampshire, pled guilty to federal charges for his participation in the 6 January 2021 insurrection. The FBI arrested Ackerman on 20 Jun 2022 when agents recovered a stolen US Capitol Police riot helmet from his home. US District Judge Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee, will sentence Ackerman for felony offense of civil disorder and misdemeanor theft of government property on 25 July 2024 in the District of Columbia. The defendant can be fined or imprisoned for up to five years per 18 USC § 231(a)(3).
New Hampshire Public Radio reports that Richard Zachary Ackerman is a white supremacist and member of National Social Club-113 (NSC-113), an active neo-Nazi organization growing in New England. NSC-113 targets immigrant, LGBTQ+, and Jewish communities, as well as left-wing activists. The Southern Poverty Law Center advises that NSC-113 boasts of having ties to various branches of the US military. The Boston Globe identified at least ten veterans associated or affiliated with NSC-113.
While executing a search warrant at the defendant’s residence, the FBI recovered a stolen US Capitol Police riot helmet hidden inside of a chimney flue. Seen in the photo at left is a sticker bearing the emblem of New England-131 (AKA NSC-131) affixed to the rear of the helmet. (US District Court records / FBI photography)
