Some notes about Anti-semitism in Ireland.
The scourge of anti-Semitism was part of official Catholic teaching into the 20th century The Irish Times until 1956/59 if memory serves.
Despite this, across Europe throughout the Middle Ages, Jewish people were denied citizenship, forced to live in ghettos and persecuted. And it is uncomfortable to acknowledge that the Christian church was a party to this obscenity, providing moral cover for attitudes and actions that were contrary to everything the gospel stands for.
One must never underestimate the power and influence of the Catholic Church in Ireland. It has only recently begun to recede.

‘What is your nation if I may ask?’~ Colm Tóibín
In 1965, when Eamon de Valera was President of Ireland, the Irish Jewish community decided to honour him. They chose a site near Nazareth and planted a forest of ten thousand trees named after him. They also commissioned a book of Celtic symbols. They made effusive speeches in his praise in both Ireland and Israel. Jacob Herzog, the political director in the Prime Minister’s office, whose father had been Chief Rabbi in Ireland, wrote that
Eamon de Valera’s leadership, integrity, deep humanity and sense of purpose have for many decades now left their imprint on the international community. In Israel, it is not forgotten that in the crucial years of struggle for independence, he evinced understanding and sympathy towards the restoration of Israel in the land of its fathers. The forest which will rise in his name in the Galilee will, I have no doubt, be a lasting symbol of friendship between Ireland and Israel.

From 1169 to 1922 Ireland was a colony of the British Imperial System, some 753 years. Even now a part of Ireland remains subject to London.
It was used as their laboratory for Imperial rule during their days of Empire and colonialism.
On the 28th of May 2024, Ireland will recognize the Palestinian State.
Irish descendants have had some notable [good and bad] success, especially in the US including the current President.
The Irish Diaspora consists of around 70/80 million descendants.
Despite economic oppression, forced starvation [the Famine], and conflict we have been quite a success story. [I am of Franco [Breton]-Irish descent, in other words, an American.]
It is not as if the Irish did not object strenuously to this Imperial rule and were called allsorts for so doing.
I wish the Israeli and Palestinian peoples well, but not their current leaders, however.
I am petitioning for France to be the next to recognize the Palestinian State.
PS. Threats do not work
Katz warned that "Israel will not remain silent" in the face of what it perceives as a betrayal by its European allies and that "further severe consequences" would follow for those making such a decision.
Gosh, a few softly spoken words, if not a touch of quiet, would go a long way.
