hi venthoolipals, how was your weekend?
The highlight -- well, lowlight -- well, I guess I was high -- of my weekend was overdosing, apparently, on half a chocolate chip cookie I pulled out of my freezer.
A few years ago some merriment was had at my bff's expense when she ate half a pot cookie and became so convinced she was having a heart attack or a stroke or something, she called an ambulance where they made fun of her and wouldn't let her out but took her on to the hospital where she was promptly sent home.
A few days after that I ate half of a cookie from the same batch and couldn't move for a while, but remembered my friend's cautionary tale, so I knew it was just the cookie.
Well I think I ate the other half of that cookie Saturday. I still can't talk very well. I couldn't talk or think and I was so dizzy and disoriented, I made my friend take me to the emergency room because I was convinced I was having a stroke or heart attack or something like that but I wasn't. Whew. It's still hard to believe it was the cookie because I have fifty years of cannabis imbibing and this was way off the charts compared to anything ever before.
I threw up getting in the car. I thought maybe I was poisoned by the fish I ate for lunch.
At the hospital they scanned and tested me and told me I did not have a stroke or heart attack. Then they left me to lie on a stretcher in the emergency room till l was able to sit up, get dressed, and go home at three in the morning. They called me a cab.
htdIdeynsyydeeeeretdheeefffIredtsldenkrfeye?ddgakdagsdeodddeeektfFydtt hahaha my phone just typed this and it's just what I sounded like Saturday night.
My daughter reminded me today that those cookies were obtained from a bartender at a certain local establishment. And that her dad had gotten lost riding home from the park after he ate a half.
Before that all happened,
This diary from rightiswrong last week inspired me to check, and sure enough today marks my 20-year Kosiversary! I remember it well. Marooned in a sea of mainstream media, in the leadup to the 2004 election, the primaries were underway, I kept reading about the "Dean scream" and how horrible it was and how unhinged was Howard Dean, and I didn't get it. What was so bad? It felt like I was taking crazy pills. Casting around on the internet for some insight, I found Tom Tomorrow's blog. I was a longtime fan of Tom Tomorrow from the 80s when he used to make cartoons in his now-recognizableThis Modern World style, in Processed World. That's a whole different story from another era in San Francisco. Anyway, he led me to Atrios and Atrios said something about Markos, and the rest was history. I had found my people. Some time later I clicked into a nightly series called Insomniacs' Venthole with Craig Ferguson. I had happened on Craig Ferguson one night and was instantly smitten. It took me a while to get the hang of the venthole. I thought you had to like football to be here, and I... don't. Anyway, since then, I've written about 50,000 weekly venthole diaries read by five people on a good night.

I was still high yesterday, lay low and enjoyed this wonderful diary by AlDo and friends. It has all the best summertime songs, with several excellent versions of Summertime itself, except that if this one was in there I missed it.
This is the first summer in 30 years or so that I haven’t been working full time and I love it!
