Gershon Baskin is one of the few good Israelis. Genuinely interested in hearing about and from the other side. His letter to Palestinian readers is interesting for all, including non-Palestinians (such as myself). His letter is basically an appeal to a Palestinian Mandela
blogs.timesofisrael.com/…
Nelson Mandela cracked the core of Apartheid by stating that he was not seeking revenge, that in the new South Africa whites and blacks would live together with security and dignity. Mandela was victorious because he did not see the white South Africans as his enemy. He understood that the fear inside of white South Africans was the enemy and that to beat that fear he had to speak to the inner heart of white South Africans.
He is looking for this Palestinian Mandela to step forward and liberate both Israelis and Palestinians from this cycle of violence.
Please go read his whole piece. Since his letter is meant for Palestinian readers, as a non-Palestinian, I will not comment on it further.
