Hey folks. Hope you’re… okay, “well” might be asking a bit much, but I hope your coping mechanisms are, for the moment, outpacing your daily agita.
Anybody else sick of the media feeding frenzy?
What? NO, I’m not talking about “Whitewatergate” or “Butter Emails” (dude — ew), I’m talking about… okay, okay, bad joke, you get it.
And actually, if I might make so bold, I am talking about those two things. And every other act of biased, slanted “journalism” cooked up by the media elites and shivved into the backs of elected Democrats.
If you’ll forgive my vernacular, shit gets old.
There are voices here trying to share and spread hope (and I say thankee-sai to you all). I’d like to lift up another such voice, from his own substack. Here you go:
If you didn’t know Jeff Tiedrich, who self-describes as an “internet loudmouth,” you can thank (or curse) me later (maybe both! Both works!).
There’s plenty of Tiedrich’s trademark snarky, profanity-seasoned commentary, but also all manner of useful facts and clips, too. I’ll excerpt a few.
(BTW, Tiedrich doesn’t usually do conventional capitalization — something with which I strongly identify. It is unusual to read for a moment, then you get it.)
So (emphasis added):
those four renegade House Dems couldn’t convince the other two hundred and nine that dumping Joe and replacing him with we don’t know what, but trust us, it’s going to be magical was the best way forward.
Math, y’all. It’s a thing. (Tiedrich points this out in his first PP, but that’s a single sentence, so I didn’t want to blow one of my 3 PPs quoting just that.)
The next section of the article elevates Ted Lieu skewering the press. It’s all great, but here’s a choice snippet (video is from the substack too):
“Robert Hur was appointed by Donald Trump. he is a Republican and he has said that the written transcript is an accurate rendition of the audio — so you can just read it. the transcript’s fine. but you know what written transcripts are really crazy and incoherent? look at Donald Trump’s transcripts from his rallies. he says crazy stuff — all sorts of radical stuff, and incoherent thoughts, incoherent messaging. he talks about sharks and being on a boat, and the boat sinks and there’s electric batteries on the boat, somehow you get electrocuted — it’s bizarre stuff.”
Go Ted Lieu!
Tiedrich has a remarkable ability to be pithy and verbose at the same time, so I’ll blow the last of my three paragraphs quoting this line (emphasis added):
the rebel renegades got “outflanked” by the 81-year-old dude they claim is too out of it to lead. sounds to me like Sleepy Brandon still knows how to get the job done.
Oh, but there’s more. Lots more. So much more. A little (well-deserved) sneering and jeering for A.G. Sulzberger. A glimpse of Biden’s demanding schedule. Even a wise and necessary word about remembering who’s on which side in this thing — in the heat of this moment, it’s pretty easy to forget that.
Please — please — click through and read the whole article. Sign up for Jeff’s substack if you’d like (he’s usually excellent and fun to read). But just read these words, here and now.
Then take a breath.
Remember this is a terrible, terrifying struggle — but you’re not alone. Whatever you think, I promise you someone else is thinking really similar things about this stuff. You’re not alone.
I won’t promise that “it’s going to be okay,” because I don’t know that, and I’m not here to sell false hope. I will say things maybe, just maybe aren’t as apocalyptically bad as the legacy and mainstream media outlets seem to want them to be.
Do I know what’s gonna happen? Nah. But regardless, I feel like we’ve got the same job:
Chop wood, carry water, write postcards to voters if you can, phone bank if you can, donate if you can, help basically any way you can, Go Vote (as soon as you can — can’t stress this enough)...
… and don’t give up.
Hope this helps someone feel a bit better today.
Thanks for reading and stay safe.
